2 consecutive missed miscarriages

Hi,

For the second time we went for our routine dating scan, only to be told that we've had yet another missed miscarriage, I've had another D&C we thought the chances of having 2 consecutive missed miscarriages was pretty slim, both of them have been detected at the 12 week scan.

Our first one was in November 07 and the second one was this week. Does anyone know if the chances of us having more of these type of miscarriages is? I'm just about ready to give up.
I'm 30 years old and don't know if this is a factor at all?
Any help would be appreciated, as we are at the end of our tethers!

Thank you.

Sinead

i just had 2 myself, one on 10/12/07 and another 2/12/08.  both needing d and c's.  the first i was 11 weeks only measured 8 weeks and the second nothing but a sac developed.  my doctor is starting the re-current pregnancy loss testing on me but there is always that chance that i may of had 2 for no reason at all.

is your doctor planning on doing the loss testing to see if you have low progesterone or maybe need an aspirin due to a blood clotting problem qhich is very common in pregnancy losses?

i have had two as well. Don't you hate that the dr  calls it a fluke or bad luck. You just wish there was a yes or no answer when it comes with am i going to have another m/c.  And after a m/c we are so nervous and worried to have another one because of the previous outcome and if we do get pregnant we cant enjoy it because were afraid to lose it..It seems unfair i guess. We should be worrying about our morning sickness or what to name it or what colors to paint. But if youve lost one its more like is this one going to stick or am i going to lose it too. How sad huh!

I too had too consecutive missed miscarriages, one showed 7 weeks at a 13 week scan, and the other 5 weeks at a 9 week scan.  I am now pregnant again and have had a scan at 6 and 8 weeks both showing healthy.  I too am extremely worried about having another miscarriage of this type again, but I have been informed that missed miscarriages only make up something like 2% of all miscarriages, and miscarriages happen alot! So from this statistic I can guess that the chances of having another missed miscarriage for us both is very slim.  I wish you all the luck with your next attempt.

I had one miscarriage and I am nervous to try again.  It must be so hard after two in a row.  I have a friend who had two in a row and went on to have a beautiful baby.  I have another friend who has two kids and had a miscarraige before the first one and another one before the second baby.  You are young.  Unless your doctor thinks there is something causing the miscarriages it could just be unlucky.  Good Luck!  I am sorry you have to go through this.
