2 placentas

Today I went in to get the baby monitored since I have to go in 2 times a week till the baby is born. They always do an ultrasound and today the technician took a little longer and then she started asking if anyone(meaning my partner or I) have a history of twins in their family. So I answered my partner and she asked if I had my final ultrasound done. I said I have not till next week. She said she was going to do a full ultrasound for me and as she did she told me how I had two placentas. She also mentioned how it wasn't in the same place. After she mentioned how I could have had a vanishing twin. Has anyone ever experienced this?

My sister had vanasing twin. One baby was absorbed back into her body and the other was born heathy.

Not sure if mine is the same as i have 2 placentas 1 baby. Since 6 weeks there has only been 1 baby but at 13 weeks they found the 2nd placenta. Told me it could have been twins or just an odd placenta. I wont know for sure if it was twins untill i deliver and they test the placenta. Im 30+2wks atm. Hoping they can give me answers after my baby girl is born. I had not heard of it before it happening to me and same with my mum. Hope u get some answers and good luck with the rest of ur pregnancy
