20 week ultrasound-confused and worried

Hi,
I am brand new to this forum and just wanting to ask a question about something that happened at my 20 week ultrasound. I am now 24 weeks pregnant, but it has been playing on my mind since then.
The sonographer mentioned at the scan that she couldn't see baby's nasal bone and that this was a marker for chromosome abnormalities. When we got our ultrasound report back from the radiologist it didn't say ANYTHING about it and said baby was 'sonographically normal'. My midwife has told me to stop worrying- that the radiologist must have been happy or he would have ordered another scan.
Also I understand this marker seems to be associated with Down Syndome, but am terrified it could be something life threatening (such as trisomy 18), although otherwise baby looked good-would other markers show up if it was something like that??
I really appreciate any advice!
Thanks

Awe, sorry to hear that, thats terrible. I am in my 5th pregnancy and I still worry and panic about things, but really it just adds that much more stress to baby. You'll worry your whole pregnancy about the little things, and much more when baby comes. My eldest is 13 and I worry about him like crazy about everything still, lol.
Have a happy and healthy remainder of your pregnancy

Thank you so much for your advice. My midwife was not at all impressed that the sonographer had said anything.
I think I am over anxious! My beautiful nephew was stillborn at 36 weeks and I think I am very afraid of something like thay happening.
I really appreciate your advice!

I had a marker for both of those conditions, Choroid plexus cyst. On the report it said that I needed a follow up scan to re check it. Like the above poster said, if its isnt stated in the report dont worry about it. Likely the sonographer put that in his report and the radiologist looked at it and thought it was all fine. Remember, sonographers Are NOT supposed to say anything as they are NOT qualified to read that.

Yes, if the sonographer isn't happy, they request a repeat scan. I had a repeat scan for the same things and a few weeks later all looked normal and good. Sometimes the parts are just hard to find or see depending on how baby is positioned or behaving.

I wouldn't fret for now, but ask your dr at your next appointment if it's still bothering you. :)

If that was the ONLY thing the sonographer mentioned I wouldn't worry. Chances are the sonographer missed it but the radiologist picked it up after reviewing the ultrasound.  I honestly think you are worrying yourself far more than necessary.  Did you have the triple marker screening done earlier in your pregnancy?  Did it come back normal?  If so, try to rest your mind,.  As your doctor said, if there was cause for worry or even a doubt that something MIGHT be wrong, I'm sure the radiologist would have noted in his/her report that the scan needed to be repeated.
