38 weeks

Hi. I'm 38W5D . I have an appointment Friday to speak to my OB.  When I was there last Friday they mentioned me getting induced this coming weekend because of me not progressing.  I've been at a fingertip dilatation and 50% effaced for 3 weeks now. I mentioned stripping my membranes to help but was told my cervix is too high and thick for it, should I go with being induced or just hold on and wait to see if my daughter comes by my due date (may 3rd)

Some c-section babies don't even need that.  My son was crying as soon as his head was out of my c-section incision (can you say creepy?).
He just had his nose sucked (which every baby gets regardless), and didn't require any oxygen.  Every baby/delivery/surgery/situation is different though :-).

I would try and hold out and if she isn't here by May 3rd, then get induced.  Every women I know that had a c-section wishes they had gone the more natural way around.  All their babies had SLIGHT trouble breathing after the c-section because of the fluid in their lungs.  When you have a vaginal birth, the fluids are squeezed out of the lungs and the babies comes through the birthing canal.  Don't be afraid of a c-section though. They suction out the fluid that's there and put them on oxygen for a little while until they are 100% sure the baby will be fine on it's own.  Good luck!!! Prayers for a perfect delivery!! :-)

Its totally your own decision to make. I personally would try to wait but I had a terrible experience with induction (I'm sure I'm in the minority though, plenty folk do just fine). Both my babies were late and I dont expect this one to be any different. In the UK they wouldnt dream of induction before a due date unless there were a very good reason. We also are not checked for dilation until labour starts (unless they've changed it in the last 5 yrs). You will no doubt hear many different opinions but it is your decision, no-one elses.

Do whatever you'd like but some women just flat out don't progress without being induced. There are some women who always have to have csections because they never ever dialate.
