39 weeks and horrible tightening

I am 39 weeks, and I have been having tightening and hardening that is a bit painful. I have also been having lots of pressure in my pelvic area, but it seems way worse in my rectum. It will get to the point to where I can't sit. Do you think this means labor is coming soon?

I agree with Rhi315; sounds like real contractions. It very well could be the start of labor since you're at 39 weeks.

My experience has been that the main difference between the Braxton Hicks contractions and real contractions is that real contractions typically start in my back and work their way toward the front. They cause a lot of pressure in my bottom (feels like I need to have a bowel movement but can't). They also get more and more painful as time goes on. Whereas the Braxton Hicks contractions I have are primarily in the front and don't really cause pain, just a lot of pressure (like someone is squeezing my tummy).
