Since you're still early in your pregnancy they will have to do a transvaginal ultrasound. The pap is the same almost lol. Just relax when they do it. If you can handle sex then you can handle a pap. It's just a huge cotton swab. The ultrasound wand is more uncomfortable than the pap to be perfectly honest.
Tay your dr did one as the strep b test it's routine
Thanks ladies.. I feel more at ease when my appointment comes up. :)
Try not having sex almost your entire pregnancy and then having a pap done -.- I'm so over this who does a pap at 36 weeks! I got one done at 8weeks now he did another one and didn't even tell me he was gonna!! And it hurt! I don't think a baby's gonna come threw O.O I'm now scared of birth
They are not bad at all. Quick too. Iv been getting them every yr since I was 17 and I am now 24
i got one on my first appointment i was only 14weeks long it was really uncomfortable but thats only because they dont know how to position it right because of my tilted uterus. dont stress tho it just makes it worse its better that u relax urself or destract urself that helps to that way u wont think about it.
Dont stress it hun tjey arent that bad and are pretty quick. Ive been getting one every year since 16. Both my pregnancies have been high rosk so i get an internal.check every couple weeks so its made me immune to Nyone down there i just dont care anymore. Just think of it as a way to make sure babe will be born healthy and once u have one you should cobsider getting them done on a yearly bases. Youll see they arent that bad:)
Paps aren't so bad, but they aren't the most comfortable thing. I am usually pretty irritable after that. Recently, the law has changed. Legally, doctor cannot do a pap on a woman until she is 21,rather if she's sexually active or not. That's what the Navy doctor and my maternity doctor said
It's really not bad. If your partner is coming with you, just talk to them while they're doing it and if not talk to the doctor or nurse about something else to distract yourself. It's really important! Just remember it's for the better, you will be okay & it takes 3 minutes :-)
My doctor didn't give me a pap, she said I didn't need one because I was young (20) she did do a pelvic exam which was weird but just don't focus on that. It can be overwhelming if you have never had one (I had never either) but just keep thinking about your baby
They didn't do my pap until my 12 week appt, hopefully it goes quick for ya!
I didn't have one until I got pregnant. They did it at my second appointment. I was also really nervous, didn't want to have to take my underwear off and feel all awkward, but your doctor will make you comfortable and mine didn't hurt at all. Just a little pressure. My sister had one and said hers hurt, but it won't be anything you can't handle. You'll have to get used to it being pregnant, this is the easy part lol.
I don't even feel it when they do it. They usually talk to you during it and that distracts you from concentrating on what's going on and before you know it it's over in seconds. Think of it as building your pain tolerance down there because there are much more painful things to come in the next 9 months.
I was scared too when I had mine last week but it really wasn't too bad. Just uncomfortable but if you cooperate it doesn't take very long. I did experience some spotting and bad cramping afterwards, but the doc said that was normal.
Im 19 and had my first one at my first prenatal appt it wasn't to bad but its not very pleasant my doctor said its better to get your first one before your pregnant because then everything isn't so sensitive
I hate pap smears so much. They don't hurt its just uncomfortable and grosses me out bc I can feel them scraping inside. But not to worry you! It only last a few seconds really...you'll be just fine :)
I'm the exact same way! I get super nervous and feel all dirty )): but I actually didn't have one when I started going. I'll be 40w tomorrow and they've only done my strep test
Yeap first ob appointment is pap and the transvaginal ultrasound its not bad at all
I agree, it's mostly awkward a little uncomfortable, but you should just get used to it, it should be done yearly and it's part of being a woman..
It's more awkward for you than uncomfortable, just breath and relax
dont worry, there not that bad hunn. .
i have had my third pap as i am having my second baby, just close youur eyes && relax its not that bad && it only takes like 6 or 7 minutes for all the stuff too be conpleted.(:
youu can do it. .
best of luck.(:
I hadn't had one until i got pregnant and I'm 21 too. At my first appointment they did it and my doctor was gentle and she talked me through itall. It really wasn't that bad:)
In the US they normally do paps at the beginning of your pregnancy, especially if its your first. I would say you will get one, almost 100% sure as a matter of fact, since you have never had one. They aren't that bad.
I never had a pap done and still havent at thirteen weeks gone ( im from the uk ) not sure what its like anywhere else but i never heard of having that done at an ultrasound or at all if not needed. Dont worry everything they do im sure is just to make sure you and babies ok :) good luck x
