Update on my little guy

Hey guys!
My little guy seem hes doing ok....they did the u/s of his brain and theres no bleeding! YAY! so that is a relief!  They still not feeding him, if everything goes on schedule they should start feeding him next week so hopefully he can gain some weight, his insulin is still going up and down, they are giving him ivs with sugars, protein and fats, they took the light out finally so now i can bring a blanket to cover his isolette, his vital signs are stable, and his on 21% oxygen which ive been told its really good...the only thing im worried is why they are still not feeding him, they say he is spitting up residue from feedings from before...they have this tube going tru his belly thats spitting up green liquids, they say its not coming out from the bottom its coming up, somenthing must not be working properly with his intestines, they still havent figured out what it is, but they have him on antibiotics just in case...im just really anxious i want him to eat and get big soon....anyone had these problems with a preemie before???

I have prayed for you and your family.  I am so glad to hear that he is getting better.  Give him time and we will pull through this.  My mother told me about her friend having her son at 26 weeks I believe.  He is now 10 and doing wonderful!  I just got off the phone with her after reading your post and she said that everything you described happened to my mom's friend.  Good luck and my God bless your family!

My cousin said that they did his daughter the same way, with not feeding. There bellies are new to eating and they have to be sure there is no problem. She ended up having surgery on her intestines. She is now eating the breast milk with no problems. I believe she was about a month maybe, when they had to do her surgery it was her 1st! I am glad to hear he is doing good otherwise! Stay strong and love your baby let him know you love him and want him home! Please continue to update us! God Bless you and your baby boy!

The TPN that your little guy is getting thru the IV is sufficient nutrients for him......Like nazdacko said, the bile means he's not quite ready yet....all in time....then he'll be eating you out of house and home!  So glad that things are turning around!

I have been wondering how you and the baby were doing.  I am so glad to hear that everything seems to be going well.  I dont know much about premies especially when they are born that early, but it really does sound to me like he is doing really great!  Good luck and keep us up dated.

Don`t worry about the total parenteral nutrition. The preterm babies don`t have enough enzymes to metabolise the formula thats why they need pareneteral nutrition. Until there is biliar (green) content in nasogastric tube that`s means that the intesines are not ready for feeding. It`s very early for that want2bemama. Most important is that he is fine and stable.  I`m optimistic, everything will be ok. Wish you best, I hope God will be with you all the time.

i'm so happy to hear he is stable and doing good!!!  i've never had a preemie, but dd was in the nicu for a month so i know its stressful!!!  i'm not sure about the feeding tubes, but i do know that even though he's not eating an actual bottle, he's still getting all his nutrition w/ the tubes.  i hope he stays on this path and they find out what isn't developed quite right yet and you can bring him home!!!!  tell him he has lots of prayers going on for him!!!
