Adding rice cereal to bottle?!

My daughter is 5 weeks old and ever since we brought her home we have been in and out of the doctors because she has been puking up almost everything in her stomach after feeding! She can fall asleep and wake up hours later after eating and just puke everywhere!! :( my poor princess wakes up crying and her doctor has switched her formula so many times I feel as though it is doing more harm than good :/ I have heard of moms adding 1tsp of rice cereal to their bottles at night and it helping immensely with acid reflux and puking/spitting up. I'm a FTM so I am unsure and iffy on what to do! I only want what's best for my princess. Have any of you mommies tried it?? I'm looking for any advice!

Have you tried breast feeding? I'm a ftm too and my nephews didn't get rice cereal til they were around 4 months cause breast milk and formula weren't filling them up anymore

Yes adding cereal works my daughter would aspirate and had bad acid reflux but adding cereal thickens and is easier for the baby to tolerate no need to worry :-)

How often did you ladies add the cereal?? Every bottle? Or just one at night?? I tried it this last bottle and so far so good! She is asleep right now! She had a 6 oz bottle with 2tsp of rice added to it!  Yes I tried breast feeding and she projectile vomited on breast milk so that's when we did formula!

My son us six weeks and has bad reflux. We put rice cereal in his formula just for my substance for him because if he drinks over 2 ounces he aspirates and can't breathe. The two ounces leaves him hungry still do that's where the rice cereal comes to play. But it constipates him

My twins had reflux and it helped to have them sleep on an incline. They slept in their vibrating chairs for months

I forgot what its called but my sister baby was five weeks old a few weeks ago and had to have a minor surgery because she was throwing up her formula not keeping anything down even after changing formula and she was getting dehydrated I forget what the name of it is . Just talk to the pediatrician about anything that can be causing it intestinal wise or if its just tge formula . Good luck momma

My son was born 5weeks premature. He had horrible acid reflux and was lactose intolerant. His acid reflux was so bad and medication didn't help what so ever. I started putting rice cereal in his bottles at 8weeks. I started out by putting just 2 tablespoons of rice cereal in his bottles but by 12weeks i put so much more. In a 8oz bottle of formula i would fill the cereal to the top. The more cereal in the bottle the less he puked. By 4months he was already eating baby foods. And by 5months he was on stage 3foods. Putting the rice cereal in his bottle was the best thing i ever did. I got alot of negative remarks but i didn't care. My son was finally able to keep his formula down. Like i said my child was born premature and we didn't have any issues adding the cereal to his bottle.
