Air travel during pregnancy

Has anyone traveled by air during their 3rd trimester? I wasn't planning to travel at all but my boyfriend's family wants to throw a baby shower for us in another state. The flight is only 2hrs. I'd be around 32 weeks. Is this a good idea? I'm really skeptical.

I'll ask my doctor at my appointment on Wednesday. The drive is 13 hours so I can't even imagine being in the car that long. I really wish they would've let me know sooner so that the shower could've been this month. Thanks for your responses. This has been driving me crazy all day.

I traveled at 3 months when it was the most dangerous time. My airline let's me travel up to 9 months. I will be traveling at 30 weeks from north carolina to arizona then drive from Arizona to new Mexico then fly back on the 28th of October I'm due December 20th! Im asking my doctor again if it's safe but Im sure it won't be a problem for me. I don't even show yet.

I traveled at 35 weeks and 36 weeks. Four hour flight each way. Most airlines won't let you fly after 36 weeks. Air pressure can cause your water to break but if you stay hydrated and walk you will be fine. Always consult your dr though!

I'm 29 weeks right now and plan on flying back home at the end of this month. I've already gotten the okay from my Dr and she even said I could at 36 weeks if everything was normal (wouldn't dream of doing it lol). With my first I also took a flight at 7 and a half months pregnant. Everything went fine, just make sure you think about how long you'll be sitting and pack comfortably. I had a lot of lower back pain with my first so this time I plan on putting something behind my back to help. Good luck and check with your Dr

The difference in air pressure can cause you to go into labor before your ready. Its not recommended at all especially in the third trimester..have you considered driving?? It'd be a much safer option

I traveled at 25 and 27 weeks. Make sure you discuss it with your doctor. Mine was perfectly fine with it. Most airlines do not require letters from your doctor until you are 32 weeks. I was very nauseous from the turbulence on the flight but didn't have any problems besides being wildly uncomfortable. Make sure you check your airlines rules and regulations about traveling during pregnancy also.

^^ not true about harming the baby either. I had a friend who was a stewardess on a plane and worked up until she was 36 weeks, flying 5-10 times a week! Her airline and doctor was okay with her working that much.

Air travil is very bad for the baby because of the difference in the air pressure it could harm the baby usually the first trimester is not as bad but at 32 weeks it could harm the baby.

You should ask your dr. They don't recommend travelling after 7 months. It's A Risk I Wouldn't take.
