Am I pregnant?

I am one week late on AF as of today (12/19/10).  I recently switched from the bc pill to the depo shot.  Prior to receiving my shot, I took a HPT and the result was negative (Tuesday 12/14/10). Tuesday evening I started spotting (bare minimum) for a day and a half.  Friday evening (12/17/10) I took an early result american fare HPT and got a positive result!!! However, I tested again an hour later on Friday & also Sat morning & evening with First Response HPT and the results were negative also...What is going on?  I'm literally driving myself crazy thinking & wondering if I'm truly pregnant or if the American Fare was just a bunch of bs...Thanks for any & all advice!!!

Big Fat NEGATIVE...But that's okay bc I wasn't really TTC anyway. I have a 4yr old & 5 month old so I'm really not ready for another one just yet.  I'll stay on my shot for one more cycle (5 more months) & then start actually trying again!  I also called the company & complained & they're sending me 2 free tests in the mail :) So, all is good!!  Thank you for your advice!!

Blue dyes are more prone to having false positives. Good luck and hope you are able to get into your ob soon.

Better safe than sorry. Blood tests usually are pretty fast when it comes to results so hopefully you don't have to wait too long:-)

Thank you! I will keep you posted :) They are probably going to tell me to wait another week or so & have me come in for a blood test or something but we shall see :)

First responce uses the lowest amount of hCG and is usually the highest recommended brand. It's unlikely it would show an inaccurate answer. The test the showed the positive. Was it a blue or pink dye test?

Thank you for your advice!  I plan on calling my OB tomorrow.  And, to answer your ?'s...I took a HPT the day before I received my shot & it was negative.  However, three days later received a positive result followed by all those negatives.  The catch is though...I received a + on a different brand of hpt than that of my negative results.  I've been told that sometimes the cheaper brands have a lower sensitivity & can pick up HcG levels way faster...not sure how true that really is though!! Sooo, I'm thinking that maybe I am pregnant & the name brand (First Response) just didn't detect the hormone. Also, I failed to mention that prior to receiving this first depo shot, I was on Seasonique bc pill...no AF for three months at a time! I missed a lot of pills though so it is a great possibility for pregnancy...I have a 5 month old and 4 yr old & am not ready for another yet...but if it happens, it happens!!!   Thanks again for your advice!!  I'll be talking to you soon! :)

I was on the Depo for a few years and It takes at least 1 full cycle for your period to diminish or completely disappear. 2 ?'s for u: What date did you get your shot? Did they give you a pregnancy test before they gave you the shot? (they should have) I'd say take one more test. If you have a dollar store in your area buy one there. They sell them At least if it's negative you know you only spent $1. Being that you just got your shot on 12/14, my suggestion would be make an appt with your OBGYN and let him/her tell you what's going on.
