Anencephaly?

i found out when i was 5 months pregnant that my baby girl is diagnosed with Anencephaly. what is it really? i have some people saying its no brain? in my ultrasound pictures my baby girl has her whole brain? im just confused.

By definition it's anecephaly means condition of no brain, in medical terminology. y, being condition of, cephal being brain, and an is without (the e is just a combining vowel). If they do see her brain on the ultrasound, then I'd question why they say this. I looked up the acutal definition of what anecephaly means, and it says that it's basically a neural tube defect that happens after about 26 to 27 days of pregnancy that leads to a large part of the brain, skull, and scalp being absent. I really hope that this is not the case for your daughter. I would consult with the dr and ask why they diagnosed anecephaly if she has a brain, everything I've seen so far describes it as a baby without a large part of the brain. If it's all there I don't see how they could say she has anecephaly.
