Anxiety/stress during pregnancy

Before becoming pregnant I was prescribed to Klonpin for my anxiety. It was also to help with sleeping and mild depression. For the most part, it kept me feeling pretty leveled out. Since coming off of the Klonpin, along with pregnancy horomones, I have been a wreck (not all the time thankfully). I was wondering if anyone had any sucess managing their their anxiety/stress while pregnant without medication or if there are any truly safe medicines out there. I go back to my OBGYN this Wednesday and I am planning on discussing this with him. Any feedback would be great. Before anyone says yoga or anything like that, I really do not think that stuff is for me! Ive tried to just relax but sometimes it just does not help.

I definatley clean when I am feeling this way! And boy do I cry! Ill look into those SSRIs, not sure what they are. I would really like to be able to get through without med, and I do not want to take anything unless I know for a fact it is safe for the baby. I know that the stress and being so upset is not good for the baby and this is one of the main things that make me want to try med. Thanks for your input! Im glad Im not the only one feeling this way while pregnant.

I was on valium for the same reasons as you described.  I haven't taken it since I found out I was pg.  My psychiatrist is wanting to put me on an SSRI that helps with anxiety and is in class C category.  We are trying to wait until I am in my second trimester but my OBGYN wants me try to go without it.  So I am going to try to go with out it and only go on it if I can't manage.  My OBGYN wants me to try other methods, like going on walks or cleaning.  I think they all sound stupid.  When I go crazy I just go to another part of the house and cry and I seem to feel better.  Having time by myself helps, I even retreat to the bathroom at work.  Works so far.  If you need medicated ask for alternatives for Klonopin.
