Asking about unprotected sex and morning after pill

Hello,
I am a 32 year old male and had brief unprotected sex with a 25 year old female on Monday. I did not ejaculate in her and used withdrawal method although i know there are precum risks. In addition there was some feint blood on my penis afterward. She had said she thought her period was over the day before. She did take the next choice emergency contraceptive later that night (Monday) and the second pill after 12 hrs as per instructions. I am very nervous as we do not want a pregnancy and are not in a committed relationship. I am wondering how effective would the next choice combined with withdrawal (i know this was a bad decision) in this situation. I know I do not have other details of her cycle other then she said it was the last day of her period or that the day prior was the last day.

Thank you very much;
nervous and waiting

Ok thank you everyone . Thank you doctor. I appreciate your reply. When is the earliest one can test and which test from over the counter? Ok and if she is late on her period it could just be the emergency contraceptive .

Hi!
If your girlfriend was my patient, I would advise her that she is probably pretty safe--there is debate about whether there actually is sperm in the pre-ejaculate fluid or not.  Some studies cast doubt on that theory, althought it is best to always use a condom.  Also, if she had just finished her period, the emergency contraception should be effective, because it works by delaying ovluation and she probably had not ovulated yet.
Emergency contraception frequently causes cycle changes, so if her period is late, I would advise a pregnancy test, but would not be too alarmed.
Hope this helps!

I'd say there's a small risk still. I've come across many ladies that the morning after pill didn't work on and they became pregnant.

I wouldn't worry too much especially if she took the morning after pill. The blood she had might not have been her period,it could have just been you pushing on her cervix which can cause some blood.

I think the chances of a pregnancy are pretty slim so I wouldn't worry. However I would suggest being a more responsible adult and carrying protection with with you. Sex is how babies are made mind you.
