Baby Positioned Head Down @ 24 Weeks

Hello Everyone,

I had a Doc's appt. this past Monday and she informed me that the baby is facing head down already...I freaked out when she told me this since I'm only 24 weeks. After she checked my cervix and determined that it was close, all she advise me to do is to rest as much as possible, stay as stress free as possible, and not to pick up heavy items. I'm still a bit worried about this all since I work in a very stressful environment and I don't really get as much rest as I wish I could...Has anyone ever experienced something like this? Whether good or bad, I want to hear it all. I want to do whatever I can to prevent a premature birth...I want to make sure that my baby is healthy and can be delivered safely. Any advice or comment will be appreciated.

My first son was the same way. He was head down at 25 weeks and my doctor gave me the same instructions as yours. I had him 5 days before his due date. The only thing that I thought was bad is that it causes more pelvic pain and pressure with his head there, and as I got further along it became harder to walk,  but it didn't cause any complications at all.

My first DD was head down at 26 weeks.  I rested as much as possible and didn't lift anything heavy.  She was 10 days late.

Your baby could be head down today and the opposite tomorrow.  At this point there is still a good amount of room for him/her to move.  Try not to let this worry you.  My daughter was head down for weeks and she was big.  At times I thought my pelvic bone was going to break in two.  I never went into labor and had to have her via c-section.  If your doctor is not too concerned then you can relax a little. =)

Both DS and this baby I'm carrying now were vertex (head down) by at least 28 weeks.  As long as the baby isn't what they call "engaged", it's not worrisome - and they can still flip around in the meantime.
