Back to the drawing board...

Ugh, so many pregnant women in this family lol....Right now there are 3 of us pregnant. The first one is about 6 1/2-7 months.. I'm 2 weeks away from 5 months and the last one is a month behind me. I was just informed that the name we picked out for a girl is also the name the first girl picked out for hers...(girl)... Ah man. Back to thinking over the names again. The name was Abigail. And we were going to call her Abby. Even still calling her Abby and having an Abigail in the family would be weird and a little confusing. The second girl's husband said they were thinking Isabella which was our other choice (if Abigail didn't work out)... Either way, it's back to the drawing board for the girl name. We did have Madelynn as a name once but I don't know if I'm going to use it. We already have a Makayla Grace and Madison Brooke and Molly Ava. So many M's lol....

As for the boy we have officially set the name as Brody Dennis. We both really like saying that name and until we know what we are having in 2 weeks, we've been calling the baby Brody lol... If it's a girl, I'll still be happy about it.
I'm going to be a first time mom. I know that picking names is hard when your not pregnant and now that I am a couple of months from giving birth, it's a lot harder than I thought. ha... DF thinks its fine cause the baby won't be here for a few more months but I told him getting the baby's room together isn't exactly a last minute project. You never know how early or late they will be. lol..  I want to be able to decorate the name on the wall.. So if it's not set, I'll be a little grumpy when it's time for that.. =P.. I'm a planner.. I like to have things done before hand (when it comes to stuff I can easily get done lol)

How did you and your DH, DF, DB or partner, come to an agreement on a name? I know that it's difficult so I'm wondering how everyone else got the name they wanted or agreed to lol

I have the perfect name picked out if I'm having a girl. I'm only 12 weeks along *fingers crossed* I have no clue what the name is going to be if its a boy. But what helps me choose are the "meanings" of a particular name. Most of my family has hebrew or indian names & we all have very sturdy meanings. I keep with tradition and named my children names with a good meaning. So I imagine ill do the same for looking for a name for a boy, should it turn out to be a man child.. lol :) just google baby names with meanings.

Me and DH never picked boy names. We had an idea for two, but could never come to a decision. We didn't really like anything. As for a girl, we had said Emily at first but then he said he wanted her to be Kylie one day and we both loved it. It was the second girl name we ran into and that's what we called her.

Maybe I'm just a control freak but I picked out both of my girls names. The first name came to me in a dream and because she was a miracle baby I felt that if I named her something else that something would go wrong. My seconds name I heard a couple years ago and loved it and when I found out I was having a girl I decided that I would name her that name. DH wasn't exactly into it at first but when we made lists I made sure to put a whole bunch of completely awful names on it so he would give in and choose the name I already wanted. I can't even to this day tell if his list was serious but over my dead body was I naming my daughter any of those names. Anyways finally he said, "lets just name her Navy. I'm so used to calling her it now anyways that anything else would be weird." So that's her name. I wore him down.

We decided on our name the day after we found out were having a girl, our boy name was set to caelan, and for a girl we had camryn for a long time. that changed the day after the scan, and now my daughter has a name with meaning and that me and him both absolutely adore! when people first hear it they are a little unsure because its not a common name around here, but after they kept hearing it they have since told us they love it!

2 of my friends are pregnant too, 1 due in june, 1 in july and me in august! its all fun and we constantly sit around talking about our babies because were all having girls :)

@ Chezross I love the name you picked for your daughter! We almost switched our daughters name to Alba before she was born but decided against it.

When my husband and I were dating, he told me that if he ever had a daughter he wanted to name her Kahlan - and I was skeptical, but he had me read the book series that the name is from and I fell in love with it. She's a very strong, intelligent, beautiful woman who is equal parts competence and attractiveness...and I always thought that the name evoked that image for me, so when we knew we were pregnant with a girl we discussed maybe 1 or 2 other names, but we came right back to Kahlan and by the end of the day that we found out the gender, we knew she would be Kahlan. her middle name....well...that took a few more weeks, LOL. we wanted a middle name to match her first, which is irish (original spelling Caeghlinn - which means 'pure') so we found Sionna but knew it would be consistently mispronounced, so I used a little creative editing and spelled it Syana...it means 'God's grace'.

My son is a funny story...right up to the wire (delivery) we were stuck between Rylan and Grey....and when they set his naked screaming gooey behind on my belly, I smiled and cried and then gasped and went "Oh NO we didn't decide on his NAME!" (my labor happened FAST...I thought we'd have at least another hour or two to talk about it LOL). My husband looked outside and it was very rainy and dark and he goes "well it's very gray outside" and as he said it, thunder cracked outside without lightning...I was like "OK, God, I get it!" so he was Grey. he has two middle names - Joseph after my husband's grandfather, who passed away when I was pregnant with him. He took me by the arm the day before he died and said "You look after my grandson, and my great-granddaughter and great-grandson." - at this point he was so muddled that he barely remembered anyone or anything, but he was thinking of my little family, so I knew there was a special connection. His 2nd middle name is my maiden name - i'm the last in a looooooong line with my family name, but there are no males to carry it so unless my son has it, the name will die with my generation. Poor kid...I hate my maiden name. LOL

I never knew the sex of any of my babies before they were born, so dh and I picked names for both sexes before hand.
I had Katie as a definite for a girl and we both agreed on it and had Ethan for a boy....we had a girl the first time and she is Katie.
My 2nd preg I was convinced was another girl....we had Holly chosen that time for a girl but couldn't agree on a boys name....the shock when we had a boy...I had wanted Thomas as a boys name and the midwife said to dh...the pain she's just been through let her have her way...hehe. So we named him Thomas.
With my 3rd baby...again I thought it was another girl so we had Holly chosen and couldn't agree on a boys name again....the day before the baby was born dh chose the name Luke. I wasn't fully sure but it was his turn to choose so I agreed. We had another boy and so he is Luke. I get to choose our last babies name once I'm pregnant!! :D

DH wanted to name our dd Allyssa Cheyenne and I hated it. Allyssa reminded me of a snobby girl I cheered with in HS and everytime I hear that name it annoys me. Cheyenne is just god awful. lol. So, DH had just gotten a job at VW and he googled german names. He came across Leksi and the americanized version is Lexi. Her middle name is my middle name, which is Nicole. But, we spelled it Nikole. I had my heart set on naming her Rylea or Brylee. If we have another little girl in the future I'm rooting for Rylea Mattisyn (DH's name is Matthew).

DH and I have agreed on a girls name (even though I think its a boy). We haven't decided on a boy's name yet, and don't have any middle names picked out. Girl: Lillian, Boy: Xavier, Liam, or Elijah.

oh....and the same name in the family... I have three cousins (one on my mom's side and two on my dad's) they all have a girl named Rylee (and spelled the same). My cousin just had a little boy and named him Matthew, which is my brother's name. They asked him and he thought it was really "cool" that they wanted to give their baby "his" name. Both mine and DH's extended families are really big, so its hard not to have repeat names.

I like the unique names and my sis in law in pregnant right now as well. Im due July 5th and shes due the 22nd. Both having boys. DH and I "agreed" on Maxamillian Noel. The SIL will more than likely name her boy after someone in the family. Which is what she did with her first two. Im safe since the chance of us picking the same name was slim to none. I actually keep the name a secret until he's born so I don't get the dilemma of us picking the same name.

As for your question about how to agree. I would make a list of names I liked and ask him about them. But we got this name by watching the movie "Gladiator" lol. And my DD's name we were watching Rachel Ray and Donald Trumps wife was a guest, Melania. So we had our DD's name. My first is a Junior after daddy. And my youngest is Mathieu (spelled french). Good Luck.
