Breastfeeding

I was wondering if it hurts to breastfeed when the child is teething? What about when they have teeth?

I breastfed until my son was 18 months old, and the teeth were never an issue.  I don't even remember being bitten (by teeth), but was always ready to pop my little finger in his mouth and break the latch if he tried it.  (The gums are almost as hard as teeth, so any bites came earlier, from his hard little gum plates.  I can remember one of two of those in the early stages when my nipples were so tender that being chomped was like having someone clash cymbals right next to my head.)  By the time a kid gets teeth, he or she is pretty used to doing the appropriate mouth shape for nursing, and that it does not include biting or the treats go away.
