Can a gestational sac be absorbed

I had a tubal ligation last year. Last week I had 2 positive pregnancy test and a scan revealed 5 weeks 3 days. Today the doctor can't find anything and I have had cramping but no bleeding. The ultrasound was done by abdominal and by 2 different places. So confusing and the doctor says just wait and see.

That definitely sounds very strange sweetie.  You've not had bleeding or anything in which anything was expelled, right?  so, that would be crazy for it to just be gone. Yes, that is unsettling but I would think at this point that it is a mistake. So, you go next week?  That will feel like forever to wait---  but please let me know what he doctor says!!!

Thanks I will do. All my cramps have gone and still no bleeding and positive tests so I think it might have been the doctor. I can hope for now.

Wow, that's confusing!  You had an ultrasound that showed a sac as 5 weeks 3 days and now they can not find it at all?  How long ago was the scan that showed the sac?  The body 'can' absorb it or it can break down but it wouldn't happen over night.  Do you still have pregnancy symptoms?  Do you still get a positive pregnancy test?  And they made sure there wasn't anything going on in your tube like an ectopic, right?

The doctor said we will look at that next week but yes test is still positive and still got symptoms. They definitely saw it in my uterus last week. Even my doctor is a bit confused. I am going for another scan in a week but just so unsettling and wish I knew what was going on. There was 5 days between the scans. Had another scan because of the pain.
