Canadian ways??

I keep reading about people getting ultrasounds done at 6 and 8 weeks, and I'm a bit thrown off. I saw my doctor at 5 weeks, and she sent me for blood confirmation. Six weeks is just the tests for viruses, etc... No seeing an ob-gyn until later, and I'm assuming there is no ultrasound in my near future. Is this ok? Should I be demanding a referal to an ob right now or an ultrasound... or both? Kind of lost... Ha. May be different because I live in Canada..? Help!! Lol.

I had my first ultra sound at seven weeks! I couldn't hear the heart beat, i could only see it. My first prenatal all we did was a pee test, vitals, and then ultra sound that was it. I go Monday for a pap smear and then November 11th for the down syndrome treating. I'm nine weeks and for days today :)

I live in the US I don't know if every doctor here does it but with my OB when you make your first appointment they schedule you for blood work then at your next appointment they schedule you for an ultrasound to measure the baby and check for heart beat

I think it really depends on the doctor. I'm on Ontario. I had a dating scan at 5 weeks, then at 8 weeks because the 5 week scan was too early. Then I had one at 18 weeks. Baby was stubborn and wouldn't show her spine so I had to have 2 more anatomy scans done. I've had 6 ultrasounds but it is because baby wasn't cooperating and I have a short cervix.

I had one at 6w for spotting one at 11w cause they couldn't find the heart beat on the doppler and then my anatomy scan at 19w. I'll most likely be having monthly growth scans now too because of placental lakes. But with my other 2 kids I only had the anatomy scan.

I live in Canada as well and I only had one at 20w... they won't give you more unless something is measuring to small, blood work if off or your cramping or bleeding

I didn't get one until 12 wks when we did the downs test. The next one I got at 20 wks for an anatomy scan had to have another like 3 wks later cause they couldn't get all their measurements at yhe first one. Then I got one weds but only because I have gestational diabetes and im measuring a little ahead anf it was a growth scan.
