Demerol during labor?

How well does demerol work durring labor? I'm due in 9 days and I'm still not sure what I wanna take while in labor but I'm leaning towards demerol, so what are pros and cons about it?

I had it while in labor. I will now go natural because I know the pain I'll feel I can do it. The femoral made me sleep for 2 hrs which was nice but I woke up every few minutes with awful contractions and I felt everything when I woke up but I was drugged up so bad that I was panicking and couldn't breath and didn't understand what was going on anymore. Thank goodness as soon as my son came out the rush I got blocked out how drugged up I was until I got to the post pardum room then I couldn't even speak to nurses because I kept passing out from the drugs.

I had it while I was in labor before I was able to get the epidural and it took a little of the edge off but I was in a lot of pain so it still hurt pretty bad.
