How dialate you are isn't what really makes you in labor. My sister was 5cm for weeks while not in labor. What matters is regular contractions and generally how dialate you are is how they gauge what point of labor your in.
With my 1st child i was 40weeks pregnant & 2centimeters dilated & in labor so it is tricky to tell... Now im 19years old & pregnant again, im berly 8 weeks so we'll see how it goes with this one!!
Well I had my little one she is a happy bouncing my baby girl 7.06oz and 19 inches
I agree, it can be tricky. Regular contractions play a part too- I was at a 5 for several weeks with my second, and not in 'full' labor.
Dialation is a tricky thing because you can be up to 3 centimeters dialated but still will not be considered in labor their are other factors that have to take place along with dialated like effacement and the baby birth station (how far up or down in your cervix they are) etc so with that being said it can be tricky to say one is in true labor vs the body leading up to labor
