Dilating?

Hey ladies I was just wondering how long it took everyone to fully progress after starting to dilate? I went to the dr today and am 60-70% effaced and a little over 1 cm. I'm hoping it doesn't take long to go into actual labor now!

I was stuck at 2cm for a month and then started hurting really bad and started having stronger contractions with back pain. I went in to L&D  at 6:30pm and had my baby the next morning at 10:29. My water broke on its own and all at 5:49am.

Those last few months are always the worst. Just try to rest and relax as much as you can. Once baby gets here you won't have much chance for any of it. Good luck! :)

believe it or not..you would rather be thinning(effacing) than dialating...generally once you are completely effaced you will dialate farely quickly thereafter...I was dialating, but would not efface at all, and had to be induced....just keep walking and the more you contract the more you efface, so then you will start to dialate...

I wouldn't worry about that possibility yet. You're only 36 weeks and still have another month before baby is actually due. You need baby to stay put for just a bit longer, but don't worry. They'll be here before you know it.

Well I've been walking a LOT lately but it looks like I'm going to be one of those people who is stuck. I had a dr app this morning and I haven't dilated any more just thinned more. Such a bummer since I've been contracting and inpain for the past few days. Ugh

I found out I was dilated to 1 on a Saturday night. Three days later I went in and was at 4-5 cm and in labour. I swear by walking as much as possible. I believe that truly is what put me into labour.

Thank you! Yes this will be my first. Second pregnancy but the first ended in m/c at 11 weeks. So this is all new to me. I've been doing a LOT of walking but today felt exhausted so just relaxed. Lol. Thank you again!

I take it this is first baby?  Everybody's labor is different and every child you will have the delivery will be different.  Your cervix sound ripe meaning your effaced or thinned out.  If you feel like it, do some walking.  Sex is great for starting labor.  Just don't exhaust yourself.  Good luck and congratulations.

It's so hard to tell because everyone is different. I was 4cm for a month and 80% effaced. But then I was 5cm for a few days. Then finally went into labor and 4 hours later had my son. I would walk or bounce on an exercise ball! It will happen soon!
