Down syndrome.

Hey all
So today I got the result back for my N/T test the the results I got was 1:157 meaning if I have 157 babies one would have down, doctor asked if they sent me to a specialist and did more testing would I terminate if it did, well forst I broke down, after thinking about it all day Ive decided not to know and go through with the pregnancy. But I was just wondering if anyone has had a bad result and baby came out fine, also if anyone has or know what a baby with downs is like ive met people but never seen a baby, things I wouldnt read in articles, I plan to do some research to be prepared. my husband once said to me before we thought about kids that monkeys have one less chromasome then us and people with downs have one more, maybe they are the next step in the evolution line. Apart from this being my baby and Im already in love with it, that poped into my head and just confirmed what Ive decided

I didnt get the test done either, but i feel the same way as you that no matter what the outcome this is still my baby and im still its mom and will love this baby unconditionally no matter what... theres always a chance no matter the odds...  DS or any other condition just means there may be a few more detours in the road but like someone else mentioned there is so much support out there to help familys through the rough times that you are never alone in this... DS or not congrats on the pregnancy! Babies are such blessings <3

They said that with my 4yr old she was fine I'm preg again I refuse to do the test I'm love my child regardless

I refused to get that test done.  I dont want to have to worry and second it doesnt matter what the result is becuase we will still be keeping the baby.  If it does have it we will deal with it when it is born.  The doctor also told us that during the 20 week scan in many cases it can be detected.

Actaullyyy....those test r not accurate...my twin step daughters are identical and 18 months old now...when their mom was pregnant with them her test said they were down syndrome so they went to have an abortion. The first place they went was closed the 2 nd place had protesters and the Dr their told them that the test are not always accurate and they went thru with the pregnancy...and here they r today *not down syndrome* their mom ran off but I'm glad they r in my life. Go thru with it and pray God gives u a healthy baby

Someone else posted a question like this and alot said they got high results back and their baby wad fine. I believe one even said her chances were 1/45. I had a nt scan but the doc.didn't tell me my numbers.

Children with down syndrome can go on and live normal lives, depends on severity. There is plenty help available so just do research on it as like any child there all different.
