How did everything end up turning out for u as far as telling your doctor and did your baby come out healthy and normal as it should have?
I don't think that he can report you.... Because you took the steps to be responsive and quit since you have known.... He can not report this.... It's not like you were doing it while knowing you were preg..... I did mushrooms and smoked a lot of weed before I knew I was preg with my first son.... The dr never reported it cause and my baby came out perfectly healthy he is now a very smart 6 year old..... Drs are only aloud to report in the case where they are afraid that you are going to hurt yourself or someone else.... In this case I don't see a reason why he would make that call.... That's how it is here in Canada anyways....
Just a note, if you doctor did make a report to child services and you are not using, thigns should turn out fine. Child protection services will not get involved until the baby is born if no one other children are a concern. They could flag you in the system but if your baby is born clean then the only involvement they should have would be a period of supervision like home visits from nurses, etc. But you have several months so get enrolled in an addictions programs to prevent relapse, and start taking parenting classes. When they see you being active at taking these steps on your own, it means alot
I know a lady who was using cocaine when she was pregnant. She quit during the pregnancy. CPS did get involved but they did not apprehend her child right away. The child ws in this lady's care for several months but was evenually apprehended but that was because the mother was having trouble properly caring for it and started using again.
With that said, your doctor probably wont make a report unless he/she develops concerns that you are actively using.
well done for giving up instantly :) considering you were so addicted before, you are more concerned for your baby. up until 13 weeks, if your baby was unhealthy you would have miscarried, if you have a scan you will see your baby is a healthy baby. it may mean you have an earlier labour, or a lower birth weight but you have just under 3/4 of a pregnancy clean. there may be damage done but you probably will not know until baby is born. all you can do is maybe eat healthier and exercise more in case this may help. i wish you the best. congratulations and well done for turning your life around. x
You dr shouldn't call child services. I think it is very noble of you to come clean literally and to your dr. I wouldn't worry too much about what you have done, yes there could be some damage but what is important is that you are changing and making healthy choices and decisions. I don't think at this point your baby can feel hurt so i wouldn't worry about that. Stay strong and be proud of yourself. It is very hard to come clean and to speak to your dr about your mistakes but you are a very strong woman to do so. I wish you all the best and pray that you have a happy and healthy nine months :)
I don't believe anyone can tell you chances of birth defects. It is possible, but you might also have no problems. Only time will tell at this point. Normally if you come clean and tell your doctor now, they'll work with you to try and help to make sure both you and the child are taken care of. The only time I've heard of protective services called is when the mother fails to be honest and the drugs are found in the infants body at birth.
