The ultrasound measures how big your baby is growing so when I went for an ultrasound I was 29 weeks but baby was measuring 32 weeks and the nurse said its normal you still go by your original due date just means baby is growing a few weeks ahead.. I'm not to sure about giving birth what dates and stuff cause I'm only 33 weeks and baby us still measuring ahead he is currently measuring 36 weeks and is weighing over 4 pound
Your Dr go's by your lmp.
A ultrasound actually measure the baby and is more accurate. As every woman dies not have a 28 day cycle and conceived 2 weeks after lmP.
I do have a 28 day cycle. And my lmp due date, & ultrasound always matched up to the day. So with all three of my pregnancies my due date never did Change.
I know my body and cycle so well every time I got pregnant, I'd give the Dr my due date, and when I conceived, a ultrasound always showed I was right. Dr would say (well, you are right on the button )!
It depends how far along you are. If you're very early the ultrasound is going to be more accurate because the variation in size baby to baby isn't very much early on makeing gestation easy to tell, but as the baby has more time to grow there is a bigger variation in size and can make it harder to tell gestation.
I think the ultrasound goes by how big the baby is measuring which can throw it off. With my first the ultrasound was measuring two weeks ahead so they changed my date. I wound up having my daughter 2 days before my original due date. She was a big baby. 9lbs and 21 inches long.
