I got denied food stamps because my boyfriend makes $200 a month too much because he works as much overtime as possible.

You can be on wic up until the child is a toddler. Baby food, formula, etc. I'm going to breast feed and they make sure I'm going to be getting the things I need to produce healthy milk :)

Yea, Wic is easier to get than food stamps. I have both, but I lose my food stamps next month because I live with my fiance's parents and his dad makes way too much for me to qualify. The baby will be born next month, and she will cause me to share a common bond with his family and making me apart of his family unit, but with the Wic, they only include me and my fiance as a family unit because they want to make sure I get all the nutrients I need. Plus they will help with formula too.

... I thought it was 150% of the current poverty rate? I should look into it again!

WIC is a different kind of program, but you can still be denied.

Factorymamma if you're unemployed how did you get denied?! Ugh I hate Medicaid sometimes. They just dropped out amount because my husband got a.raise but with that raise we got 300$ more in bills (bought a house) its ridiculous. Anyway
WIC is awesome and nearly everyone gets accepted for that!

Wic is completely different program. It's the state making sure that you're eating healthy and that your baby is getting the right stuff.

I've been considering going on w.i.c. Since I'm already getting medicaid.  Plus being pregnant has caused me to become unemployed *frowny face* I've just been to proud to do it :-(. Plus I've already been denied for food stamps :-(

I live in Ohio, and the cashiers ask me to separate them to make it easier for them to ring it up. Like on the vouchers I get one of them is "2 gal of milk, 36 oz of cereal, 18 oz of peanut butter". So I will put that in a pile on the conveyer belt thing and then pile up in a group what the next coupon says, and keep the separate voucher items in their own group (if that makes any sense lol). But they have to ring up the items separately from the other groceries because they have to write down the amount the items cost on the voucher so they can send it back ti WIC so WIC can pay for it. It's kinda confusing at first, but once you do it couple times it gets really simple, but whenever I make out my list, I make a regular grocery list and WIC list.

Yeah, its really not that confusing, each voucher says what it covers, so you put those items with that check, and then set the next one up. You get a ton of milk, juice, eggs, bread, cereal, fruit. I highly recommend going on the program

I didnt apply because I wasnt sure I would get it. But, in Ohio, it said to separate your groceries and pay for your W.I.C. items separately with a W.I.C. voucher check. Is that the way it works? It sounds really confusing.

I have no proof of income, they based mine off of my medical card I have through jobs and family services. Hopefully the next office you go to will be nice :)

Im going to transfer offices, the one I went to the staff wasn't very nice, they were quite cold. I was also told unless I provide proof of income I can't receive any more vouchers which I found to be weird as I've had friends who were jobless and theyre still on the program

I am :) I love the people who work in our local WIC office. They are so sweet and always lend a open ear. I love the cereal I get through WIC too, and it does make me eat more healthier and makes me more aware of what I am actually putting into my body.
