My first pregnancy I got an epidural and it didn't take the guy who did it was an *** and i had a huge bruise on my back. He didn't listen either did the doctor. This pregnancy I got one and it was awesome I had to be stuck 3 times 1st time he hit a nerve the second time I was having a contraction and tensed the third time he got it and it felt awesome lol. There are other forms of drugs that will help ease the pain if you are scared about it

I had an epidural for both my births and it is a life saver! They give you a local anesthetic first which is just a little pinch, then you hardly feel it. Once it kicks in then I'm able to relax and be excited and actually enjoy my time instead of struggling through every minute. the only thing negative I have to say about it is with my first they put a catheder in and left it in because I had the epidural long before I gave birth and I got an awful uti from the catheder. With my second I  requested not to have a catheder placed because I was much more dialated when I got the epidural and didn't have to have one. But that wasn't the epidurals fault.

When i had my first they forced the epidural to save mine and my son's life.
But with the epidural it only slowed my heart rate down and numb my stomach and pelvic area. I could still feel my legs but i tore so much and my doctor said its cause of the epidural so they couldn't stop me from tearing.

With my second i was on gas. That was better (in my eyes) it helped me breathe through the contractions and it knocked me out till i felt the next contraction.

It the long run its up to you and if you can take pain or not.
