Faint positive but period

Okay so yesterday morning I started my period 6 days early. Yesterday afternoon I took a HPT and I got a faint positive. But I am having more than light bleeding. I am still bleeding steady 36 hours later. All I have heard about implant bleeding is that it is light and only lasts for a short amount of time. Is it possible that this is implant bleeding? I never had it with my other 2 kids. I'm confused. I want to be pregnant but I don't want to get my hopes up. Thanks in advance for any help, advise, or at this point just anyone going through same thing.

No, this wouldnt be implantation bleeding.  Implantation bleeding occurs when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterus and it takes 3-5 days after this occurs before the body starts producing enough HCG to be detected on a HPT.

3 things I can think of:
1) the test was inaccurate and gave a false result (blue dye tests are notorious for giving false positives.  You can also get a false positive if you read the results after the correct time frame).
2) You ovulated earlier than expected (would have to, to get a positive on a HPT) and are having a form of bleeding during your pregnancy - the cause has yet to be determined
3) You ovulated earlier than expected and are having a chemical pregnancy.

The only way to know what is happening in your case is to see a doctor.  You can also take more HPTs to see if option 1) can be ruled out.

it could be a chemical pregnancy or a very early miscarriage
