Great! What do I do now?!

UGH! So the lovely ladies on the fertility forum suggested I look for an RE (reproductive endocrinologist) instead of an OBGYN. Well the ONLY ONE that I can find in my area happens to be at the same office as the doctor I'm currently seeing. You don't understand--- it's not just my doctor who was a major screw-up, it was the entire office. They treat you like scum.

I just don't know what to do.

Oh, Leeann, I was going to a doctor's office at NKC Hospital. It's called Midwest Women's Healthcare. Do not ever step foot in that office and if you go there now, run away! I do, however, LOVE Heartland (which is also at NKCH but one floor down).

SLeeann, I am in KC, too. I have BCBS (PPO). I'd love the list if you don't mind! I don't mind going to Independence, Liberty, or even Blue Springs but not having to drive far is also great. Gas is so low right now, though, that it might not be an issue to travel.

Kiki- all 4 of my pregnancies were conceived naturally. This is my 2nd miscarriage. I did take Clomid for two cycles but gave up (that's when we conceived!). The first miscarriage was a chemical pregnancy. This 2nd one, though, was viable but died because I needed progesterone and my doctor wouldn't give it to me. I have a TON of progesterone supplements left over so going to an OBGYN wouldn't be bothersome to me and probably the only option at this point anyway. I just need someone who will LISTEN and be available, not treat me like a paycheck.

I found an OBGYN who specializes in PCOS treatment (but they're not an RE). She got amazing reviews (no bad reviews at all) so I think she'll be my FIRST interview.

We don't have any RE's in my area, so mine is about an hour away.  Luckily though they have a satellite office here in my town so I didn't have to drive that far every week.

What if you were to find another OB/GYN?  That's another possibility if you don't want to use the RE in your current OB/GYN's office (which I don't blame you).

I made an appointment with a midwife this time.  Their title is "Certified Nurse Midwife" they have a masters degree in nursing and specialized in Ob/Gyn care.  The midwife that I'm seeing is part of a hospital and an Ob/Gyn practice so if there's an emergency they'll get me a Dr. on call.

I chose a midwife this time because I hated the way that my last Dr. treated me when I had my miscarriage in June.  Well I hated the entire staff.  The first time I went in at 5 weeks pregnant, they have me a u/s before getting the hcg checked and obviously they didn't see anything, the u/s technician treated me as if I was either growing a tumor or as if I was making it up that I was pregnant, she was horrible, then the Dr. didn't even give me any check ups she only said "well lets monitor it to make sure that is not an ectopic pregnancy"... I hated them soo impersonal.  Then everybody there saying stupid comments with their fake sympathy. I hated every minute of it.

So Midwives give you longer time for appointments and they do more personal care.  I haven't gone there yet but  I think its going to be good.

It is just my opinion, and I may not know your whole story, but I would still find an OB first, even if you do get PG with a RE he will release you by 12 weeks to your OB. It also looks like you hav small children did you conceive them naturally? Sometimes I think a RE can make TTC more stressfull which can also impead conception. Have you had several m/c? I know you just went through one, I was so sorry to hear :(, but maybe you should focus on finding a GREAT ob, and that might be all it takes. Good luck either way.

Yes...definitely go to an RE!!!!!  I thought the doctor giving you clomid etc. was an RE...don't give up until you have gone that route!  Also, I'd take the reviews with a grain of salt...choose one and see how you like them...if you don't click, try another.  Good luck!   This truly is a wonderful path for you to be taking!

Joy i would not read the reviews, sometimes you have angry and disgruntal people who have been told something they do not want to here in the RE setting and blow things out of proportion.  I did not even look up the ratings for the RE my OB referred me to after my 2nd MC.  I just went and i absolutely loved him.  The whole office was great and so helpful and very attentive.  Each time you called you spoke directly to to your teams nurse, no waiting, no calling back, right to one of your teams nurses and you could call them 20 times with the same question and they still answered it so nicely.  But i could imagine that if someone went in there desperately wanting a child and was told that the odds are not good, they might blame the doctor and write negative things in the heat of the moment.  I think you will like any RE you go to, I swear most of them have to take bed side manner clases because they are dealing with a sensative matter.

Latrice, I haven't thought about a midwife. I'll have to think about that one. Are midwives really qualified to treat fertility problems?

I'm having better luck. Apparently I accidently put my city in instead of the entire metro area. I've got a FILE of potential doctors now!!! YAY! I am using ratemds website. I rated my doctors (the good and the bad ones--- I've been through quite a few!). I'm loving reading the reviews because it helps give me a feel for what to look for when I do go to an interview.

Well, you may have to look for one outside your city.  I have not looked in my area yet, but there is a lady on this forum that lives in my state and the city she is in, she will have to drive an hour or so outside the city she lives in for her appt. with the RE she will be seeing.

Sometimes we have to go the xtra mile for the care we want.  Have you looked into also considering a midwife instead of a regular ob/gyn dr.

Maybe set an appointment to meet with them, and go over details on what they would go about doing with you!?  That way you can get a feel for the doctor, and the process?  That way, if the bad rating is truly bad, you'll get the vibe right off!  You can also, tell them your concerns about your recent doctor, and tell them a bit about yourself as well.  I think that's always worth it, when your finding a specialist.  I had to do that for my high risk doctor.

I wonder about doctors sometimes.  Why they feel the need to hide things from you, or not tell your, or help you when it's obvious!  Geez....

Thanks, ashiepooh! I'm on the Missouri and Kansas border so I expanded my search into Kansas (DUH! I'm such a dope sometimes). I found a few people but they have really bad ratings. I don't know if angry clients decided to leave bad feedback or if they're truly as awful as the clients state. Why can't there be any good, honest doctors anymore?

Is there one maybe an hour away?  Or near, but not that doctors office?  Gosh, I know what your dealing with, with having a doctors office so screwed up you don't even want to go there.

When I was pregnant with my first, this doctor I had, didn't even tell me about a bladder infection I had when I first went in there.  I got pissed, and switched doctors and hospitals!  But when I first went in to my new doctor, got the medication for it, and went into labor 4 days later.  Gosh!  But I love my new doctors office, well it's not new anymore but I love it.  It's an hour and a half out of my way, but worth it!  =)

So if there is another option, it may be worth the drive!  In my opinion!
