HAS ANYONE TAKEN THE SWIN FLU VACCINE WHILE PREGNANT?

.....AND IF SO, DID YOU GET SICK FROM IT?  MY OB/GYN JUST TOLD ME YESTERDAY I SHOULD THINK ABOUT GETTING BOTH THE FLU AND SWINE FLU SHOT, AND I AM A LITTLE APPREHENSIVE ABOUT TAKING THEM.  A LONG TIME AGO WHEN I GOT A FLU SHOT, I BECAME SICK AND CAUGHT BROCHITIS AND NEVER GOT ONE SINCE SO I'M WORRIED.  WHAT SHOULD I DO????  THANKS!

I get the flu shot every year - even when I was pregnant last time and I will get it again this year - I am a teacher and haven't had the flu since I have been getting the flu shot

The H1N1 vaccine is another story - I am iffy on it too, so probably not - but we will see once more info comes out about it.

My OB told me the H1N1 vaccine would be ready Mid to late October. He told me I would need the regular flu shot and the H1N1 vaccine also. I am kind of nervous about both shots because I have never had a flu vaccination of any kind. I'm not 100% sure but I did read where they were doing some clinical trials in pregnant women so maybe you can look into that. Personally, I think the benefit of a flu vaccine outweighs the risk of the flu if you catch it while pregnant. But you never know some women get the flu while pregnant and it's not to bad on them. My luck I would be one of the ones that has major complications from it.

Thanks.  I'm going to look into it.  I didnt know it wasn't on the market yet....so I'm gonna totally forget about it, especially if it hasn't been FDA approved, maybe I'll lean more towards the regular flu shot.  My OB was making it seem like it was out already.  Shows how much he knows.

The H1N1 vaccine is not available yet, and I don't think it's even FDA approved yet. I got the flu shot when I was p/g with DS and I will probably get one this pregnancy also. I am iffy about the H1N1 vaccine. I posted a poll on here not to long ago about it and I'm sure you could do a search for it. But for me, I think it's too new of a vaccine especially for p/g woman to recieve it. I don't know though. I'm going to talk to my OB about it at my next appt.
