HELLO! Carnival Cruises.... Im pregnant.

HELLO Ladies....

I checked that you are allowed to go on a cruise only if you are 24 wks or less....... Why not till the third trimester? Im just surprised at the 24 wks...  Thats barely half way throughout pregnancy.... Barely past when Morning sickness ends.....

ANyways I go at 23 wk, which is last Full wk of january ill be allowed to go on the ship right? And why do i have to have my ob gyn fax a letter stating that im allowed to go aboard ship ??!!! So weird. Any thing else i SHOULD know?!!! Thanks ladies!

Yeah i know... these things happen...

I already have one child with who i went to term with. I had a good pregnancy, and no complications.... This pregnancy is going even better since i am not gaining as much weight as i did with my first. Anyways.. good thing that baby is healthy.. how did they let her board ship in her third trimester?

Im not worried about any of these preterm scares at all.

i worked with a girl years ago who was due july 4 and went on a cruise early April (so she had to have been around 28 weeks) - well, she went into labor & like everyone said, they had to airvac her off the ship to miami (closest  nicu) and she had to stay down in miami until her daughter was strong enough to move north (we lived outside philly at the time). she was down there a good 3 months living in ronald mcdonald housing. rough. luckily her little girl is perfect today!

Okay... Well i actually called Carnival Cruise TWICE... Asking the pregnancy policy and they told me as long as you dont hit TWENTY FIVE wks at any time during the cruise AND you have a doctors note says your healthy for travel. Two times i got the same answer! THEY BETTER BE CORRECT. LET ME TELL YOU IF I GET TURNED DOWN at 23 wk and 2 days I WILL SUE. THey BETTER SAY THE SAME THING TO ME ON BOARD.

Going down all the way to florida to board the ship... thats a two day drive looking at it that way...... SO THEY BETTER LET ME ON.

I pray they gave me the correct information.

the 24wk thing is due to that whole idea that babies can't survive before 24wks..it's like the "magic week" where babies can suddenly have a fighting chance to survive....so if you go into labor after 24wks and the baby needs a NICU, there's not going to be on on board...however, before 24wks if you go into labor there's nothing they could do ANYWAY....so that has a lot to do with it, unfortunately. I do know a cruise line (can't remember) that allows you to go later because they skirt the shoreline with their cruises and don't go into open water...I wish I could remember what cruise line, I was looking at them when I was pregnant with DD and they required a note from your OB as well but allowed it up until I think 30wks.

Its because they won't have the right medical staff on deck if something goes wrong in your pregnancy. They need the doctors note to say that you aren't highrisk and on bedrest and that you are fit enough to go on a ship which will be on water for a couple days without docking. If you went into labor not only could they not stop it but they would have to airvac you out. Its all just precautions.
