Has anyone ever had Pre-eclampsia?

I had eclampsia and hellp syndrome with my first, preeclampsia with my second and none with my third. I followed my blood pressures and urine protein to monitor myself as well as watching for signs and symptoms like headaches, swelling in hands or face, spots in vision, confusion. Make sure that your provider knows about your history!

I was just told I have low platelets & have had some random headaches and symptoms .. my doctor never told me the actual number, what happens if the symptoms arise ? is there anything I can do to lessen my risk or increase my platelet level?

I'm not sure about that but I believe that that can be a sign of Hellp syndrome...if you get upper abdominal pain, be seen right away because it can be an emergency. Some things that are done for preeclampsia and hellp are blood pressure meds, bed rest, and delivery. I did a low sodium diet as my OB recommended but that was 9 years ago and I'm told by other docs now that that probably didn't make a difference. I also always request to be given cytotech immediately after delivery to prevent hemorrhaging since I nearly bled to death with my first (I lost 75% or more of my blood).
Talk with your provider about your risks and make sure everyone is ready for a plan. They've usually seen a lot of things happen and my case with my firet was extreme which made me very paranoid for the pregnancies that followed.
