Heartburn... or indigestion?!

What is the difference between the two? I feel one or the other but not sure which one because I always get them confused.

That's funny! Guess what? When I was preggo with TJ I head heartburn 24/7 and nothing, not even prescription stuff worked right... (usually instead of working for 12 hrs it worked for 6, and he was born nearly BALD. :)

Also... the chinese calendar said that Tj would be a GIRL. Wrong again!

Thanks you guys!!! I was too lazy and tired to look it up myself (ahhhh... the wonders of forums!). Based on the webmd information I think it was indigestion. Blech! BUT... I like having these pregnancy symptoms.

Sounds more like indigestion without the gas...(well, you might have gas and not know it...people produce something like a liter and a half a day of gas)

What Does Heartburn Feel Like?
    * A burning feeling in the chest just behind the breastbone that occurs after eating and lasts a few minutes to several hours.
    * Chest pain, especially after bending over, lying down or eating.
    * Burning in the throat -- or hot, sour, acidic or salty-tasting fluid at the back of the throat.

Indigestion symptoms:
*upper abdominal pain (above the navel),
*belching, nausea (with or without vomiting),
*abdominal bloating (the sensation of abdominal fullness without objective distention), *early satiety (the sensation of fullness after a very small amount of food), and, possibly, abdominal distention (swelling).

For me heart burn is when Stomach acid comes all the way up into my throat. It gets so bad I wind up throwing up a bunch of acid. it's nasty.

Indigestion is when I get bloated/gassy and my stomach hurts.

I was eating close to 15 tums a day and that didn't help, my OB yelled at me lol. I didn't know you could take too many.

Sounds like it is both, heartburn and indigestion tend to go hand in hand so it is very well possible that it is both. I get them both really bad so my OB prescribed me prilosec otc.

It just feels like my stomach is on fire, but not (and this is totally TMI for me because I'm very modest) gassy. And it feels like my insides are being crushed--- my insides just hurt and burn. I can't even tell where all it hurts some of the time.

But it's not in my throat or chest.

I had my first indigestion experience a few weeks ago! And boy was it something!
Heartburn is more of just an acidy feeling in your throat and chest. Kinda like a burning sensation. Indigestion is more like a sharp pain right between your ribs, and sometimes shoots into your back, and it is usually accompanied by heartburn as well.
All I know is indigestion was so painful for me. Tums are my best friend!!
