Hi there, I must admit I feel quite naughty for not being on in such a long time. Little Maxx is 8 weeks old already today!
Who's had their babies while Ive been off????

Motherhood is great and its certainly makes it easy for me that Maxx is a very good baby. He sleeps 5-7 hours at night already... He has happy, content and so smiley. It truly is the best job a woman can have. I feel complete in my life now, never happier! My husband is the cutest dad ever too :-)

Weve both had a few problems as our first week was quite rough for both of us and that left us with a few setbacks but Im fine now and with the tick of approval from the paediatrician today hopefully Maxx will be too.

Maxx has only gained 200grams in 7 weeks which has been quite concerning. I hoped to exculsively breastfeed for 6 months until solids but Ive been suggested to put Maxx on formula aswell as b/f'n him to see if he'll gain weight. Weve had bloodtests and urine tests done which came back fine and today we find out how his xray and ultrasound went. Either way its a little bit sad as Its either something wrong with Maxx or my milk doesnt contain enough calories. Id prefer its me than something with Maxx but I still feel like my b/f'n time has been stomped on a bit. I will continue to exclusively or partially breastfeed either way depending on if he gains weight with formula supplement. I dont care what them doc's say mothers milk is still best!
I use nipple shields as my nips are flat as a tack lol and take Motilium to help with my supply (I have a lapband for weightloss) so had trouble with quantity) and we now breastfeed fine. I also express most of the feeds when he is supplemented with formula instead. Im also considering using a Supply line? Has anyone used one of these?

Well Im really happy as the good news is Maxx doesnt have a disease which they suspected but it does mean that my breastmilk contains not quite enough calories to exclusively b/f him. At least I can supplement with formula and still breastfeed partially also as Maxx gained 490gr in 4 days with what weve been doing. Considering he'd previously only gained 200gr in 8 weeks that is brilliant progress! I also express when I can and mix his formula in with ebm when I have it there. So my big boy is now 9lb 8oz at 8 weeks old. He was 9lb 1oz born! yay so im happy :-)
it also means no 1 week stay in hospital for ftt which is what they were going to do next step. so im very grateful to god for giving me Maxx nice and healthy!

Brandi  - My lil Mr went 2 weeks over!!! I was nearly ready to curl up and just sleep till he was ready... it almost killed my body. I was waddling like nothing else lol...
WE had to be induced and then after 13 hours labouring I had an Emergency c-section. was pretty rough Maxx was in NSCU for 24 hours and I was in ASCU for 24 hours and under observation for 72 hours. Maxx and I both had Resiratory problems amongst a few other things. The seperation and not seeing Maxx for more than an hour or 2 in the first 24 hours was very hard but we are well and happy now!
Ill email ya today or 2moro sometime and fill ya in more. so glad to hear ur babies r doing well. they r gorgeous too :-)      xx

wow he's only 8 weeks what happend to our birth day babies??? Was he that much over due??  I had mine 3 days before my birthday July 26 and they are huge and were huge.....I'm sorry to hear Max isn't growing as fast as he should...I think my two are making up for him.....with them being 4 weeks early they are still above average in height and weight for their age group Jacob is 12 lb 12 oz and Mekaila 11 lbs......and I hope you can continue b/fing I tried and wanted to so bad but my babies weren't progressing and I was pretty much starving them I felt so bad but I tried pumping even the first month and was only getting a swallow for one maybe ...........that sure doesn't feed two babies I even tried taking reglan but no luck....so they are doing good on formula now......well talk to you later....and email me sometime

He's a doll and thanks for the update! I am glad you are both doing pretty well.

Keep us posted w. Maxx's test results. I have no first hand experience (yet) so I am sorry I dont have any useful advice!
