Hi there

I am a frequent long term member of one of the other forums ( in my profile) however never before posted here as I am a male and obvoiusly not pregnant)  :)  ,however my niece is and having some problems.
She seems to be in good hands with her doctor ,however she is relatively young and nervous about what she has  been told about  her baby being in breach (at 36 weeks ) and I was wondering if any of you good folks could give Uncle Will  some info on this.
If there is questions you want to ask ..fire away and I will do my best from what I know..
Thanks much..
  Just a bit concerned...

36 weeks still has a slight chance of the baby turning. However, if baby decides he/she doesn't want to they may try to manually turn the baby. If not, your neice will require a c section. I delivered my first son via c section for the same reason. I can personally say, my recovery went amazing! I was up and walking around (of course with a little bit of pain) the next day

Many babies are breech and like previous poster said the dr's are going to be cautious of the situation and not do anything to harm your niece or the baby. But some babies just dont want to turn heads down. I have read of babies turning at the last minute during labor but I dont know how often that happens. But if it comes down to it and she has to have a c-secion there is nothing wrong with that. She wont have to go thru the labor and its a quick procedure. The recovery will be a little longer but they will also keep her in the hospital a little longer to be sure she is healing properly.. Lucky for her she will have lots of people to help with the baby :) But is sounds like she has good family members that will help out!! :) Good luck to her. There is no health problems though just because the baby is breech.

Just a stubborn baby it sounds like :) as for the risk of trying to turn the baby, there really isn't much of one. There is a risk if the successfully turn the baby that the baby might just go right back into that position.

You can let her know it's a lot more common then most people think and Dr's won't take big risks if it's just a matter of Breach

Hi amy.
Thanks for responding.

They have a session to try and turn next week (which will be 37) and thats what they told her . if can't get flipped will schedule a c-section.

there are two things she is nervous about I believe  ..Is the procedure(to trt and turn at all risky to the baby  and  also she is concerned the baby was in head down position all through pregnancy and then at the 34 week  U/S was in breach.  She is concerned there may be something wrong with the baby.

Thx

Will
