Alternative Lifestyle...any Vegan Moms?!

Hi I'm a ftm age 30 10w 5d I'm also Vegan and I plan on breastfeeding. My concern is what will I feed my baby if my milk is low?! I've been trying to research but it's confusing because I also don't eat soy. I know once the baby gets older they will start to eat baby food and I can give them what I drink almond, hemp, or coconut milk. These are personal lifestyle choices that I made a few yrs ago. Will I have to convert back for the baby or is there any healthy natural options? I know I have time to figure it out but I'd like to be well informed of my options. Would love any and all advice!

I was wondering if you are still vegan, and how the breastfeeding went?

Yes! I only eat steel cut oatmeal, you can do so much with it! I'm researching how to make my own infant formula, but I'm counting on my body to do what it naturally should. Thanks for the advice.

Oatmeal is what's supposed to help produce milk. Home made oatmeal. Not the instant kind. You can put fruit and spices. Honey or sugar. Coconut is awesome to stay hydrated and is very healthy. If you can't breastfeed is where the problem starts. There aren't many formula options for Vegan diet. Study up on that just in case.

I'm not vegan but as far a milk my kids drink almond and coconut. I would personally stay away from soy especially if you have a boy. Baby food for us is what we eat. My daughter never ate pureed food, she hated so soft fruits and veggies were always my best friends. Pasta, potatoes, beans etc. Just do what's best for the both of you. Nursing takes a lot of you so be prepared to intake the same amount of calories as you do now about 500 extra. Best wishes!
