I Do Not Like My Doctor

Is it normal for my doctor to have yet to check my cervix at 38 weeks? He's not the doctor I'm used to. (I had to change doctors for personal reasons) He's already somewhat - not a fun person. My appointments are very monotone and he seems insensitive. He went on vacation this week so I seen the other doctor in the office. I told the other doctor my cervix had not been checked and I have been feeling some cramps  and pressure. His response was maybe my doctor will check it next week but them checking it won't change anything. Definitely frustrated. Do not see the point of going to my next appointment if nothing different is going to happen.

In the UK they won't check you until you are physically in labor. What difference does it make to know you are 1cm dilated? It doesn't mean anything and won't make your labor progress any faster. And it DOES increase the risk of infection. I personally don't see why it's so important

I've never been checked and I am 39 weeks. I don't think much of it.

Wow...my Dr started checking me every week as soon as I turned 36 weeks. I would most definitely continue to express my concerns and even request they check u!

I've never been checked and I'm due in 2 days. My Dr doesn't check because it increases chance of infection for no good reason :)

They should check you if you ask for them to do it, unless the other Dr you seen doesn't see pregnant women after a certain amount of weeks the clinic I go to has only 4-5 Dr's that can check your cervix and is really hard to be seen by them.
