I had my baby!!! natural water birth story

I was 38w5d with baby #2. 9 days before due date. I Woke up at 5.30am with really strong period cramping every half hour. This quickly progressed to contractions every 5 mins. I stayed at home for as long as I could. Went into maternity ward at 1.15pm. My husband came with me with our 22 month old son but then left. (We had already discussed my labour and that he would look after our son at home while I gave birth) so it was just me and my midwife in the room. I labored out of water until 3pm. Then the contractions got stronger and I got into the water. The water calmed me down so much and was so relaxing between contractions. I was talking calmly between contractions which were about 2 mins apart. Then they got really intense. My midwife went and got another midwife to watch. So both were just watching me. ** note- they did not check me for dilation at all, ever! Which was amazing. I started pushing when I had the urge to push. My waters didn't break until I started pushing. After pushing her head out I waited about 3 mins before pushing her body out. Then I lifted her out of the water myself. It was so unassisted. And I never knew I could do it by myself! She was born  at 4.44pm weighing 4.4kgs  (9lb12oz) and she is perfect :)
