Inducing labor?

Ok so I'm over due five days now my baby's really being stubborn, today I had a doctors appointment and he did a membrane sweep (which hurt a lot) and said that it was to help get things going. My question about that is has it ever worked for anyone had a good experience with this? Or has it worked for anyone?
My doctor also suggested getting induced, I'm not sure which method or what to expect for that and I was just looking for advice or others experiences with this?  And how was it for you?

Wow thanks for the stories I'm kinda nervous to get the pitocin bcuz of other things I've heard and read that they make contractions more painful than natural ones. Just waiting to see if I get a call from my docs to see if I go in or not today. I hope this baby comes naturally I wouldn't be too happy getting a csection kinda extremely nervous about that. Thanks for all your stories anything else would be nice to know and what else can be expected. I had the membrane sleepy yesterday I don't know if that will help me or not so far it's only been 24 hrs and not much has happened since then, not even the loss of the plug. Just same old back aches n pains. Have any of you experienced a sharp stabbing like pain in Your groin area? Bcuz for the past few days I've been getting extreme sharp pain in that area even when I walk or move around I just have to sit there sometimes and suffer through it til it goes away I asked my doc and he said it was normal and probably the way the baby is positioned, but i don't now it hurts like so bad.
Well thanks ladies. Congrats to all you as well through your pregnancies and after!!

O and I dilated from 5-10cm in 10 min. I was only 5 cm around 3am when they checked me. About 3:15 all the sudden this horrible pressure came. I dealt for about 10 min and then asked my mother to get the doc. She came in to check me and I was fully dilated and +2 station! 3 pushes and he was out. No stitches or anything!!!

I've been induced with all 3. With my 2nd tho I had the membrane sweep, it's where they separate ur bag of water from ur uterus wall. Your uterus then sets off ir body on chemical and will get the process started. I know some ppl that it didn't work for tho. I had the sweep done ar 12:30pm i was 2 cm and at 5:45 pm my water cm had broken ans I was 5cm. I didn't have my son till 7 the following morning. With my third I was only 1cm. And ir wasn't even a full cm.. my uterus had tunneled. I went in around 12:30 pm to be induced. I got a pill to help soften my cervix. Got it again around 4:30. They started my pitocin about 7:30 contractions became very intense about 9:30. I got my epidural about 12:30 am and delivered my son at 3:31 am. It was my easiest labor and biggest baby!!! Good luck to u.

I checked into the hospital at 7:30 did paper work, got settled into the room, they didnt start anything until midnight. Thats when they put a foley catheter in my cervix I was only 1 cm & 50 % effaced then. Around 5:30-6 they started the pitocin. I started having contractions right away they didnt hurt that bad at this point but by 8am I was 5 cm and 80% so I got the epidural they told me its better to get it before the contractions get really bad. I was fine for a couple hours besides the medicine from epidural making me throw up. I stayed at 5 cm for a couple hours they said if I didnt progress when they checked my cervix next they would do a c-section but luckily I was at 8cm by 6pm and things started moving fast within an hour later I was at 10 and finally 100% by then I was in so much pain I just wanted her out I pushed for like an hour and Im not gonna lie it hurt so bad but once she was out it was like instant relief.

Hey i did pressure points its a natural way to induce labor at home its pretty easy and doctor approved . Basically u put 4 fingers above ur ankle bone thats were the pressure point of ur cervix is .. Then u press there inside and out of both legs count to 30 and release .. What did the docs do for you when you got induced? This isn't my first child but with him everything came naturally but he was six days late. This time around the doc suggested getting induced if nothing came naturally. I'd like to know what ur experiences were like if u went through that.
A membrane sweep is like an aggressive check of your cervix that's one way I'd put it, in my case it hurt because things are still where there supposed to be due to the fact that I never lost my plug yet or had my water broken. So I'm still waiting for anything to happen naturally I hope it does if not ill probly get induced tomorrow or Monday.

I was induced a month ago and in labor for 20 hours. Honestly it wasnt that bad until the end. I could feel all the contractions while pushing and the pushing part sucked but other then that it wasnt that bad until the last 3 hrs.
