Is it even possible?

I've read ladies who have had their dr's do a membrane sweep around the end of their pregnancy and I read up on it and from my understanding, you have to have started dilating or be basically completely thinned out in order for them to do the sweep. I'm 39+5 and had an appointment yesterday with her and according to her I'm not dilated at all but I'm thinning out and baby is nice an low. So, is it even possible for her to have done one on me if I'm roughly 85% effaced and not dilated at all? I'm asking because I'm getting induced Tuesday if baby girl doesn't come on her own before then and I'm not having any signs and I'd really rather go into labor on my own again so if she could have done a sweep and there's a chance of it working, I'd like to know.

I never was able to get one since I didn't dilate til j was induced. I think you have to be at least a 1 and even then they might have a hard time

I wasn't dilated at all when my doctor did a membrane sweep. I was 39 weeks and 5 days. Two day later I had my baby at but that was because my water broke and the baby was running out of fluid they said. Also that my placenta erupted that same day when I got my membrane sweep. They put protocol and after a whole day being in the hospital and on epidural I had my baby.

I just would rather try that and have it not work and then have her say ok let's induce then because I've tried basically everything except the primrose oil to jump start it and at least get things moving and nothing is helping and I am so absolutely afraid of this induction ending in c-section because of it that I really don't want to even go to my induction if I don't feel she's coming. I haven't had nesting or anything, I'm mainly cleaning and getting ready because it needs to get done, I've washed her clothes but not packed anything for her or me, I was told yesterday I was having irregular contractions (dr felt one while I was in the office) but I don't feel anything other than baby rolling over on my bladder and the pain from my bones all moving down there to get ready...I'm sure stressing out over all this isn't helping any but my first I was dilated at a 1 by 36 weeks and a 2 the day I went into labor (3 days over due) and I had nesting, contractions, the mild cramping I hear some women get so I was expecting this one to be similar =[

-.- hmp.. some doctors wont do it at all anyways. Mine won't.. I'm being induced in 9 days and I'm almost 2cm dilated and he wont do it, but I guess I'm happy he's rough anyway so it probably wouldn't feel that great. Maybe call up and ask her or her assistant

I don't believe so because they have be able to go past your cervix so by being dialated you're opened up some so they can strip them but I maybe wrong
