MC+ coverage is different from other forms of Medicaid. If you are pregnant and needing a ride to the hospital then more than likely Medicaid will cover the ambulance ride. Those rides ARE expensive so I definitely understand your concern.
I would just be very, very mindful to call when you know for a fact you are in true labor. It is always best to labor at home for a little while anyway so DH and/or your cousin may be able to get there in time.
Why not just tell DH to hold off on fishing until the baby comes because it is stressing you out? Or go next door to your neighbors with a plate of cookies and begin making connections with them? Because honestly if I was in labor without a ride I'd probably go banging on doors in my neighborhood before calling an ambulance, whether I knew the neighbors or not. That's just me though; you may not be comfortable with all of that.
It would be best to call your particular states medicaid provider and ask.
In the state of Texas they dont pay for it. both my sister and my SIL had to go by ambulance when they were preggers and a month later they got the bill. When they tried getting it paid by medicaid they said "labor was not a medical emergency" Its kinda silly but ok.
DD will be with my landlord until he can get ahold of DH (if DH is gone fishing), and DD will be staying with my cusin while we are in the hospital. DH Always stays at the hospital with me. Thanks for the info, a friend told me that medicaid would not cover an ambulance because when he had a heart attack and didnt have anyone to take him to to the hospital and his medicaid didnt pay for his ambulance ride he had to pay out of pocket $1800. I'm just really worried.
Not knowing individual details of medicaid where you live, I'll answer based on my area and experience I've had with friends who have had to do exactly what you describe.
Here, yes you can call an ambulance and yes medicaid will cover it. You may want to call your local medicaid office and ask them, but it's my understanding that they SHOULD cover it. Will DD1 be with you? I'm just wondering because I'm not sure what would happen if you had no one to come on the ambulance and watch your child, but I'm sure you could call the local EMS non-emergency number and ask them what would happen in that case.
