Ladies who have kids with milk intolerances...or themselves...? for ya

Well, my son is now 18 months old.  The past week, He has been having some episodes where he is throwing up small amounts of curdled milk, and I know it's not rotten to begin with since we buy new milk every 3 days!  Well, I thought maybe it was something left over from a cold, to cause him to throw up!  Well, yesterday and today he has begun to get diarreha with it.  And it's horrid!

Now let me tell you about how I found out my daughter was lactose intolerant...When she was in the hospital, when she was born while my milk came in the tried to give her formula.  She couldn't hold down regular formula, so they needed to give her soy!  On her first birthday, they told me to give her some Whole milk, to see if it caused any problems.  Well, she was projectile vomitting curddled milk, and she would drink 2 oz....And I swear 12 oz would come up, and it was nasty!  So she drinks Soy....{And I have the same milk intolerance}

My question is, Would this diarreha and vomitting up like I would say 2 Tablespoons amounts at a time, because the start of milk intolerance?  I'm waiting for their doctors office to open to talk to their doctor but that is 45 minutes away from being open!!!  Any advice or suggestions are appreciated!

I just took him to his doctor this morning...Cause it was about a week of this stuff.  He basically said, He wants to say it's the flu, so we're going to start treating it like that, and take him off milk, and if he gets better in 8 hours, then it's a milk allergy!

My niece did the samething and it almost killed her. stop feeding him formula or milk if you think that mihgt be whats causing him to get sick. if after stopping the sickness continues you need to take him to his pediatric dr.

See he's been having these symptoms for almost a week now.  I took him in!

and this *****, because he only has one kidney so I can't wait too long on things!

He is almost so dehydrated that he will need to be hospitalized if he throws up, or has diarreha one more time.

However I have to feed him pedialyte every 30 mins, only 1 1/2 oz though.  No milk, no juice....They think at the moment it's more the stomach flu, but they have to wait a week to tell about the milk, if it's an allergy.  Of course if this all stops while he isn't having milk, then the doctor said obviously it's milk allergy.  ANYWHO -  I have to keep him on Gatoraide, Water and Pedialyte for 3 days.....no food....unless it's cheerios and just a few at a time.  Poor Boy!

Which this actually is a horrible thing if he is sick!!!

since, i'm not suppose to be near anyone who is sick, because if I get sick I get hospitalized.....BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had that same problem. I would wait a few days becuase he could be sick. then try again and if the same thing happens then its a possiblity he has the same problem. My mom tried to give me milk every week when i was little. Every time i was sick. Now i get really bloated ans nauseated but i still drink it cause i love milk lol Ah well, i have IBS as well and i still get sick with foods or certain drinks. Def go to your doc though in a few days. Keep an eye on him.

And all 3 cause stomach pain and slight fevers, and he has both of those.  So i'm in a pickle...I'm sure their going to want to go a colonoscopy on him, hopefully they can do it in a less advasive way, there are other ways...but it's time in hospitals and I can't be in the room with him since i'm pregnant from all the mri, ct scans, and xrays...BOOOO!  My husband doesn't like even going into those places because he has like flash backs to his childhood and the cr ap he went through!

He is allergic to Peanut Butter!!    But the thing is, my son can eat everything that my husband and his sister can't and is fine...of course except the peanut butter, lol...But I did google it and it could also be this bacteria in his intestines that will cause all the symptoms of a milk allergy

I called the doctors, i'm not waiting for a nurse or the doctor to call back!

Have you tried.......... giving him a little bit of peanut butter or something that they can not have to see if it is that?  I know I'm just randomly throwing things out there but hey I'm trying LOL.  I would try giving him a little bit of peanut butter on my finger if at all possible and see if there are any side effects with that and then you know from there that it may be something else.  How much more time do you have until the dr.'s office opens now?

Better make sure it not milk allergy. My son has milk allergy he can't have milk or he can die. Well any dairy. But he gets rashes from it and has problems breath but I have read that another form of milk or diary allergy is vomitting and diarreha. Make sure there no blood in his diarreha if there is he might have a allergy. Goodluck let us know what happens

He wont drink Soy milk....ahaha i've tried.   cr ap!  My husband is gonna be pissed!  LOL

I had a weird reaction to milk...It started with me constantly getting strep everytime I had it...And they thought maybe I just carried the step bacteria and kept getting it.  Until I went 3 months without milk, drank it and BAM got it hard core!  Then there was always some curddled milk and diarreha with it, but no one ever thought of anything with it...

Could it maybe possibly be something with his intestines?

Now let me explain that, my husband and his sister have this disease called hershsprung, it's an intestinal disease, their not suppose to have milk, peanutbutter, eggs, or anything that remotely contains dairy, or a few other things...Why me?  sheesh..

My dh's little girl who is 3 now has a milk intolerance.... and of course it took us a while to figure it out and get used to ALL the things she could not have......But one of her side effects was the diarreha and vomitting..... and of course for a while there it was trial and error.... We finally figured out WOW this is what is making her sick..... I would say that it definitely could be a milk intolerance especially if there is no fever or any other signs of an illness or infection.....

It honestly sounds to me like that's the start of it.  I also have a milk intolerance, my mother told me she had to give me the soy as well.  Have you tried giving him the soy to see if it makes any kind of difference?  I would honestly say try that IF ofcourse you feel comfortable giving him the soy and see if he can keep it down...
