Lochia?

Three days ago I had my baby boy after a rough labor, last night I started passing the usual blood clots, small nothing significant, but today while showering I passed one that was basically like a nice sliver of liver. Now I know large sized clots can be signs of hemmoraging, but I haven't really had any of the other symptoms. My blood flow is very light, so much that the only reason I change my pad is because I find it unsanitary to not do so after so many hours. (Usually being when I wake up, or go to bed) I haven't had dizzy spells or anything like that either. I have heard that when you nurse that this can happen but I do not know if that is true or not. Anyways, should I be worried about this???

Thank you! Like I said I knew it was normal but the size freaked me out a little.

Hi!
If you were my patient, I would reassure you that it is probably normal.  Unless you are saturating a large maxi pad in less than one hour's time there is usually not too much cause for alarm.  Breast feeding can stimulate the passage of clots.  They are also more frequent when getting up from lying down, or sitting for awhile. If you have lots of clots or if the bleeding picks up, you should call in, but you are probably OK>
Congratulations!
