i actually disagree lol i lost mine 4 days before dd and was in labout within 12 hrs i think its a very good sign so long as you havent been having bleeding on and off for some time or during pregnancy i never had bleeding at all while pregnant and then i lost the plug so i was sure it was going to happen soon, some people do think its not a definate sign but for me it sure was make sure your bags are packed coz i lost plug at 5am and was having contractions at lunch time and in full established labour by that evening!!!! one suggestion if you want to get things going and youve al heard me say thing before BUT GO FOR A WALK!!!!!!!!!! OR A RUN!!!!!!!! it WORKS!!! it will put pressure on the cervix and cause it to thin and dilate!!!
good luck im doing a labour dance for you!!!! lol

The best thing is losing mucus plug should signal you are dilating and thinning which is always a great sign!! Good Luck!

Thanks everyone......I know that it doesn't mean a whole lot.....But being I've been sitting around waiting for any sign....I'm happy!  :o)  I've been cleaning like a mad woman 'just in case'.....DH is laughing at me......I'm sure i'll be doing the same again in a few days...but hey....my house will be clean!

Mine was coming out the week before in HUGE globs - it was actually kind of nasty.  But- I had a relatively easy delivery and have a healthy son!

I slowly lost mine over a month or so and finally lost the last chunk about 2 weeks before going into labor

I'm just excited being I've had NO signs of anything happening yet except for Braxton Hicks, which also means nothing really!  I just want the little guy here before Christmas!!!!  Thanks for your comment!!  :o)

I lost my mucus plug at 37 weeks. So technically I lost it 3 weeks before going into labour. They say it isn't really a sign. Some women lose it progressively over a couple months, some right before going into labour. So everyone is different. But I wish you luck on going into labour!!! =)

I voted within 24 hours; however, I actually lost my plug WHILE I was in the hospital in labor... so I'm not sure if that really counts.
