Please Help- Another D & C Question

Sorry I'm still not thinking correctly after learning my baby has died and I must have a D & C tomorrow. My thoughts are jumbled and I still have questions. I tried googling this and I can't seem to find the answer. I'm hoping someone can help me. My doctor prescribed me 200 MCG of Misoprostol which I am supposed to insert vaginally between 6-7 a.m. tomorrow. The D & C is scheduled for 2 p.m. I am terrified of having a natural miscarriage. I know that this drug will help to soften my cervix to make the D & C easier for the doctors but I also know that it could start the miscarriage process. Has anyone taken this before? How long after did you experience cramping/ bleeding? Please tell me your experience with this drug.

Thank You

I haven't used it, but I can tell you that I have had a natural miscarriage AND a d & c.  While my d & c was an overall decent experience (as decent as it could be given the circumstances) my natural miscarriage was far easier to handle.  I cramped and bled pretty heavy for a day, then bled a little off an on the next few days.  I worked my normal 8-5 job the entire time.  It is a scary thought but it's not usually as bad as you may think it is.  Most likely this med will not induce a natural miscarriage if your body has not already started it.  What it will do is make your cervix soft and easier for the doctor to dialate during the d & c.  As it was explained to me they have these little cone things that they insert that helps to open the cervix up, they gradually increase the size until you fully dialated and then they are able to perform the curetage part of d & c.

I know this is a very difficult time but everything will be fine.  Try to take a deep breath and let it out slowly.  I know I was scared to death when I had mine but all went well.  Please know that we are all here thinking about you and praying for you and your husband.

good luck today sweetie.. remember it can be emotional- and I am a very big believer in herbs, medicine that calm you - if you need anything or are anxious.. let the drs know.. they can make you as comfortable as they can and make this hopefully less stressful .... get rest and just hug your hubby... he is going through this as well ... you are in my prayers.

I wish I could give you a big hug... I don't think the doctor would prescribe you something that is going to cause anything unnecessary for the procedure. I told my husband about you today and got all teary and now I think he understands when I say that things can go sooooo wrong he understands... I hope that you can get through it and be strong and see that light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you heal quickly; your body and your heart.
