Membrane stripping

Has anyone had this done? If so did it help bring labor on or is it just like every other thing to help induce labor and won't do anything of baby isn't ready to come? I have a c section scheduled for Friday if my little girl isn't head down but if I she is my doctor said she could do this to me at my appointment tomorrow and I was just wondering how it felt and of it does anything?

I had it done on my due date and 14 hours later my boy was born. Doctors say it only works if your body and baby are already ready to be born. I only had it done as I hadn't slept for 2 weeks straight due to reflux

Stripping the membranes sent one of my best friends into labor but it took close to 24 hours. But if you're trying to prevent interventions that might lead to a c section, strong your membranes or breaking your water are your best bet for a closer to natural induction.

I think they only strip your membranes if youre dialated already or something cause my last pregnancy i was 3 cm dialated the day before my due date and they stripped mine the next morning i was in real labour had my baby 8 hrs later.

I had my membranes stripped with my first @ my 38wk doctor appt turned being admitted into labor & delivery. It just started the onset of labor.  I didn't have much cramps or contractions after,  I spent the night in l&d, next morning I had my water broken,  a dose of petocin, & an epidural. & bam baby was born within 3 hours

Sweet thank you! I think it's worth a shot and I would really like to avoid a c section. I have a 6 year old at home and the thought of taking care of a baby and my older daughter while trying to recover sounds not fun at all but luckily either way I have an awesome support system and lots of help.

K. I haven't had it but from everything I've heard it has a much higher success rate in inducing than all the other diy suggestions, and it's a bit painful. I would go for it personally! It's pretty likely to work and send like it would be completely worth it to have a chance at avoiding c-section. Good luck to you!
