Miscarriage or mishandled

I have a friend that is 18yo with h/o backbone and pelvis crushing MVA, required cervical cone. Wreck necessitated induction for stillborn 8 month pregnancy. MVA occured 09/04. She came to my house on 12/8/07 and had positive pregnancy test. On 12/12 hcg level 10782. Dec 27th, noticed very small amount of bright red spotting and immediately went to er, where she was checked and rechecked, transvaginal as well as abdl u/w. Still to this day everyone has said her cervix is NOT dialated. She was kept overnight, and discharged the next afternoon being told her diagnosis was inevitable abortion, despite the fact, they told her they were unable to find her uterus of her left ovary. But that there was a sac, but it was empty!!! Dont know where one would find a sac, if it wasn't IN HER OVARY, but I guess I'm uneducated!She did rest after returning around noon on 12;28 other than to have her blood checked by a friend, noting hcg to be 12118 and Hct 42.4. She decided since she had had no further issues, she would attempt to go to work 12/29 afternoon. She went to urinate prior to leaving around 4pm and noted "bleeding bleeding" her words. Another trip to baby hospital er. Arrived around 5:30. Noted to have actually very dark red minimal amount of bleeding, maybe 3-5cc with tiny clots, other than passing a walnut sized on into the toilet around 7:30. Finally u/s done around 11:30pm. Biseptal uteus found with sac containing yolk, hcg: 11,000's, sent home and told to follow up with regular ob first of the next week. Since that time, she began having cramping pain, some taking her breath. 3rd trip to er on 1/1. Took 2 iv inections of demeral and something else before pain under control. U/S at that time showed 11.7mmsac but no fetal pole. Cervix still not dialated, continues to bleed small amts of dark red blood with minimal clots. Is there a baby? Was there ever a baby? Is there ANY chance this could still be a viable pregnancy? Or should she just get a D&C? She is emotionally a wreck and I just feel so very bad for her. Friend in lab just rechecked bloodwork to r/o any infection or massive blood loss. hcg: only 5034, but hct 36.6 which was higher than it was 1/1 and wbc only 7. What to do???? I am taking her to church with me Sunday morning, thats all I know to do, as God created her and that baby!!!!!

From what you said, her HCG levels are dropping. That's definitely not a good sign in pregnancy. I really feel for her, and will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Getting a D&C is something that just MIGHT have to happen. I advise she talk to her OB about it first. Good luck.

HCG is supposed to double every 24-72 hours. I am a Christian, married to a minister and I had a miscarriage in 2006. It doesn't mean God is judging her or that she's done "something to deserve this".

So yes, please take her to church with you. And be a good friend and help her and let her cry.
