Missed period, but negative hpt?

So, I'm 23, in good health/shape, and my period is very regular--23 day cycle. I am currently four days late. About three days before I was supposed to start my period (and still continuing now), I started to have on and off mild cramping in lower abdomen, nausea, breast tenderness/swelling, some lower back pain, and headaches. I also started experiencing fatigue--getting winded much quicker during my daily workout and have even taken a few naps here and there. This is very odd for me as I don't tire easily. I've also been falling asleep easily and earlier at night, but I usually have difficulty falling and staying asleep. I originally thought I was PMSing and then I thought I might be getting sick since I've also been a bit sneezy and sniffly starting around the same time, but then I looked at my calendar and realized I was late for my period. My boyfriend and I took a pregnancy test yesterday, but it was negative. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm not sure if we took the test too soon? I haven't been under any more stress than usual, and I've only been early, never late for my period. We are going to take another test this coming weekend when we see each other if I haven't started and then go from there with a doctors appointment to see what's going on, but I'm just curious as to others' experiences with this type of situation. I've read about some women testing too early or having low hCG levels. We haven't been TTC, but we are both excited about the possibility of being pregnant! Hope someone can help!

I was told if your cycle is less then 25 days that it was a sign of menopause you should probably go see a doctor.

Sounds silly, but the dollar store tests always did better for me after a missed period than fancy store bought. I'd get your Dr to do a blood test just for peace of mind. Goodluck!

Many things can cause a missed period. But it could very well be pregnancy. I was a week late before I tested but that's because I had all period symptoms. When I kept cramping and never got one I had a feeling. Try again this weekend. Make sure your reading the test properly and you do it early in the morning(your first pee). You may not have enough hormones to show yet. Also some women get faint lines, so watch for that as well. I was 3 1/2 weeks pregnant when I found out, everyone is different.
