Missed period, test negative?

My girlfriend has periods on a regular basis (e.g., they're steady from one month to the next, on the exact date).

She missed her last period, by over 3 weeks now. We've bought and used a pregnancy test which came back negative last week (two weeks after missed period). It was Clear Blue I believe. The test was run properly.

We're starting to get worried. It's been way too long for a simple 'delay'.

She was on the pill, but forgot them for a few days, and then took two on the day her period was due.

One thing I am questioning: last month, she had a huge reaction to poison ivy and had to take a considerable amount of cortisol cream and I believe pills. From what I could find, cortizol affects periods. Could that be it?

Please let me know what you think. We're extremely stressed, and I'm sure that's not helping her situation.

By missing pills, she could have very well messed up her own period.  I was always missing mine, so I switched to the patch.  It's much easier for me to remember a sticky once a week patch then a tiny little pill every day.  If you do find out she's not pregnant, perhaps ask her about going to a once a week patch instead of the pills.

I hope you can find a doc who can get you in!  It stinks if you'd have to wait a month just to see a doctor.  ; ;

That's what we want to do. There are a few problems with that though. She's working from a remote location in the woods and won't be coming back until Sunday at the earliest.

There's also a bad doctor shortage, and that mean at the very least, a month of waiting to see a doctor and several days/weeks until we get results. I'll try to find some 1-800 number I can call. We're located in Quebec by the way so if you know or heard about a place I can call, please let me know.

Usually home prenancy tests are very accurate...have her take another test or get a blood test or urine test at the dr's office. Keep us posted.

She also mentioned that she kept forgetting to take her pill regularly, so a week would be: 0-0-0-2-2-2-1
