Mucus Plug or Coincidence?

I am 37 + 2 with my fourth.  I went to the doctor 3 days ago, and she said I was 1 cm dilated, and the baby was very low.  She said I might have some spotting that day.  When I went to the restroom that night (Tuesday night), I noticed a mucus clump with a dark reddish-brown spot on it.  Is this my mucus plug / bloody show and does this mean labor is coming within the next few days?  My baby shower is September 30, so I'm hoping he'll wait to make his appearance after the shower.

I'm expecting my third, and lost my mucus plug and bloody show 2 weeks ago! I figured labour would come on right away but here I am, 40+6 and waiting to be induced. So I'm sure it could go either way but at least for me it's certainly no indication of immanent labour. Good luck girl, I hope you have an awesome labour and delivery!!

When your checked it can loosen some of the mucus plug, and cause spotting, it sounds like that's what's happening, generally you'll lose quite a bit of mucus plug before you see the bloody show because the bloody show is coming from your cervix. You can also lose quite a bit of mucus plug and it can regenerate itself, if you're showing no other signs of labor, I wouldn't stress about it! I hope he stays in there for a while longer for you!
