My Baby & My Pet. Can there be harmony?

I have a 2 year old ferret. She is well trained, behaved & an all around good pet. I have even gotten compliments from the veterinarian telling me how well behaved she is. I'm currently 18 weeks & growing day by day it feels like. I know when I get to my third trimester I'm probably not going to want to bend over and pick her up anymore but that's not the problem. Because she is not a basic animal and more of an exotic one, she requires more attention. So I guess my question is... When the baby gets here is my ferret going to Rebell because she no longer has my main attention anymore?

MrsAmySanchez that story was falsely told and did not tell the entire story! That baby was left unattended but two drug addict parents, neither of them cared for the ferret who was starving to death and barely alive when they discovered the baby. If anyone were not to take care of any animal and let it starve it would eat anything to stay alive as well. That had nothing to do with the nature of the ferret, ferrets are very loving, social pets and are really no different then a small cat. I have 4 who have never bitten or shown any signs of aggression what so ever, its all in the training and time you put into raising them.

Just watch them good around the baby, I read a story in the news not long ago where a 6months old was left unattended with a ferret and it chewed the babys fingers off..not trying to be a downer just saying be careful!

I have 4 ferrets and I am not worried about them in the least. They will still get dedicated play time when the baby comes and honestly they probably won't even know the baby exists. Mine have their own room in my house, so its easy to just let out and play. I wouldn't think your ferret would act any differently but if I could make a suggestion,  ferrets are very social creatures and love their own kind. You may want to look into adopting a friend for the one you have, so that way if you do start to spend less time with her she will still have buddy. :)
